I'm strongly thinking about it. After the FFXI letdown, though, I'm kinda cautious about getting into a new MMORPG. I'll be waiting till a couple comprehensive reviews come out.

Does it have a party system like FFXI did? As in search for hours for people to let you into the perfect party and waste more time forming parties then actually playing in them, and being impossible to solo?

If not then I might try it!

here, here.

that was the one thing I used to like about EQ... when I have a lot of time to spend playing, I love getting into a good group and hunting mobs for hours. but when I only had a little time to play (ie: an hour or two after getting home from work and before bed), I liked to break out my druid and solo for awhile.

all I'm really looking for is an MMORPG where solo'ing is a viable option for leveling up to high levels. not necessarily encouraged, but one or two nerf-free solo classes would be nice for those anti-social days :)

I played the beta and I've already started my character with the 3 day head start. I'm mostly interested because it seems to break away from the typical standard of MMORPG's.

1. The object of the game isn't to have the greatest gear. There are no items to obtain, thus putting the focus on the action.
2. There is no trade economy, thus no need for trade skills. People don't have to stand around grinding for hours making crap to sell.
3. There is no camping for enemy mobs, because crime never happens within your line of site. You have to keep patroling the city to find the evildoers.
4. The customization options are so vast, you will probably never find someone with the exact same costume or set of powers.
5. Having sidekicks allows you to group with anyone, weak or strong; not just people who are your equal. You also have the ability to create your own "Justice League" or "X-Men".

My character is a Natural Blaster. I'm up to level 9 and the new powers are getting cooler and cooler.

I picked combat jump for my power pool this time around. It doubles the size of your jump, plus a little more with enhancements. I can't wait for level 14 so I can get Super Jump. You can jump over buildings at that point which will allow me to cross the city much faster.

The enviroments are ultra cool. I zone hopped for a while yesterday just checking out the different surroundings. 1 section is mostly water and you have to swim from island to island. Another section is made up of giant highways several hundred feet off the ground and slums down below with some major enemies. You don't want to fall off there.

I haven't joined a Super Group yet because it's just as fun to solo. Although, I'd like to check out some of the team based missions eventually. For those who are just starting, Atlus Park is a good place to begin. Most parts of Galaxy City is a little tough for most lvl 2-4 players.

If anyone else from ATOT is playing, my character's name is 'Capt. Vengence' and I play on the 'Freedom' server. Anyway, highly reccomended for people who like action games.

Yes you can solo in the game very easily.

No, it's not hard to find a group. The longest I've ever had to wait to get a group is about 1 minute. Just broadcast your description and you will have a group within seconds.

You added a few.

You can pick your server. There are about 10 to choose from. You can have 8 characters per server and you can play on as many servers as you want, so 80 characters is the max. It's $15 per month and the first month is free.

Well, lets see...

Do people actually chat to each other? I have tried out a few games and noticed that no one talks to anyone. I was trying out a free one called Priston Tale and it took me 3 days to get someone to respond to the question "How do I send my party a message" even though there were usually 10 people on the screen.

Do people help each other our or is it all exclusive guild/party people where no one will ever chat to anyone or help anyone out? Thats a big turnoff!

Also, even though there are no items, do the Mobs drop usefull things? With the game I mentioned above I have played it for quite some time and not found a single thing off any monster besides worthless equipment.

Can you find good stuff semi easily (as in not once every 4 weeks you find something) or will I be buying everything or begging people for stuff? Enhancements I guess they are called.

Oh, the exact opposite. Everyone talks to each other. If you have a question, just broadcast it over the server and it's answered almost instantly. Or just ask the people around you. Everyone I've been around is very helpful and talkative. It's the opposite from every other MMORPG I've ever played.

It's partly why it's so much fun. The first time I came around Atlas Park, it was like a zoo. Everyone was showing off their superpowers and using all the emotes. People were posing for screenshots and generally just yuking it up. It's a great atmosphere.

Might have to check it out then.. I need to wash the taste of FFXI out of my mouth.

$15 a month is pretty high.. MMORPGs keep going up in price!! Meh, at least I get a month free!

Mobs drop inspirations and enhancements. You don't really pick anything up. It's automatically given to you. Insiprations add to the effectiveness of your superpowers for a short time. Enhancements add to your superpowers permenantly.

You can buy them, but it's much easier to get them from fighting the evil guys. Also, people are pretty good about giving those away since there is really an overload of Ins. and Enh.

I was in beta, granted it was late in the beta testing but it was still beta, and honestly i thought the game was horrible.

All of the scenery was monotonous, it was all urban areas. Some of the quests took you to sewers.... woopdiefreakindoo... you're not in the city, you're in the sh!!ty parts of a city.

Not to mention the differences between choosing the different methods of how you gained your powers (mutant, science, etc) seemed to have absolutely zero impact on the actual outcome of your character.

The result being that in actuality there were only around 4 or 5 different classes to choose from.

too bad they don't have pvp. how sweet would it be to form a group of evil villains to fight the good guys?

Great so we are forced to by more to get what we want.

I don't like to be the pessimist, but these days this kind of sh!t just ticks me off and is the kind of stuff that stops me from buying games such as COH.

the scenery's not monotonous. well. early levels it may be.

but how un-city like did metropolis and gotham city get anyway.
