Damm this is like poltics. How about this you are right and wrong. There is a middle.

For many, maybe most for modern US, it is not needed. But for some it is needed and there are medical reasons for it.
Another reason it took hold in the US is the Fed Gov paid use to pay for it to be done. So after a child was born if they did that it was a extra amount of money for not much. Not sure if they still get paid by the US Gov but insurance will pay for it after a kid is born so Docs still want to get that extra cash.

I am cut but did not see a good reason to have my son cut so he is not.

Hmmmm and by the looks of it, it seems you are VERY attentive of them for you to have noticed this

As was mentioned earlier, it's hard to saunter through these forums without tripping over a giant schmuck. (and I mean that in the literal, Yiddish sense)

You should know.

I prefer if she kept her hands ON my wang.. personally.. but hey that's me..

Just calling Techs a 'her' does not actually make him female, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I'm not here to judge.

Nurses and doctors think they're gods in their little hospital kingdoms, and it takes a bit of work to disabuse them of that notion and impress upon them that they may NOT do anything they want to your wife or your child.

It was probably a good idea, when it was used by people living in a desert without soap and running water.

I've lost count of how many infants/young children I've/my classmates have seen that have some sort of pathology in the penis due to poor hygiene. This is in Miami/Ft Lauderdale, not Africa. You underestimate how many awful/dumb parents are out there. Not necessarily a problem with being uncircumcised unto itself, but an absolute lack of understanding.

lol no. Completely for religious subservience, nothing more. The notion of health was added to make people feel good about it after the fact, as evident by the fact that it serves no actual hygienic benefit.

Semantics, really. Being uncircumcised in and of itself is not less hygienic, but it does make it easier for those with less than stellar hygienic habits to have problems.

You have your religious types telling you sex before marriage is bad and they lop off the end of your dicks so you cant masturbate properly either.

I don't think I've ever had a problem there. :p

But as for my opinion, it's definitely a social "norm" that can and probably should take its leave now in most areas of the US, but it won't. A lot of people (women?) are still scared of the anteater.

Either you're a health care professional, or a penis wrangler.

Personally I think it's a solution in search of a problem to solve. It's a barbaric practice that is no longer relevant in society and is honestly just pointless mutilation. You can try to justify it all you want by saying its healthier/safer but you're likely only trying to convince yourself.
Translation: I've seen the overwhelming and convincing evidence that my viewpoint is wrong on the facts but I'm going to ignore it all anyway because...well...go fuck yourself.

Weird, I work in a general hospital in the UK and I've never (in 15 years or so) seen any infants/young children with those problems due to not being circumcised. I can ask around if you'd like.
