Who in their right mind invented this thing? Someone sat around one day and decided lopping off a little bit of their swhantz was a good idea?

Then they went around and convinced other people to lop off a bit of their swhantz? I can't even begin to imagine how that conversation went.

Nor can I imagine the conversation when someone said:
"Hey, join this new Jewish religion. It's great."
"What do I have to do to join?"
"Stick out your shwantz"

I get it that before tv and the internet people were bored, but wtf?
Freaky stuff.

I've heard "schlong" as well.

This makes me glad I'm circumcised. Probably NSFW, and definitely gross.

Instead of asking stupid ignorant questions why don't you just research it, maybe on the internet, and find out why it came to be?

Here, cut and paste this in Google and get back to us:

history of circumcision

Merry fucking Xmas hoping you get smarter in the new year.

I think it was invented after some leader saw Long Dong Silver in the shower...

Relax.... it's just another high quality atheist attempt at humor, they think that by using religion in their jokes they are more funny

There's a reason for circumcision, it has been proven is healthier and overall better for anyone that gets it.

My friend's dad is about to get one at age 50 for medical reasons. I'm not sure what his condition is but if it were me it had better be a matter of life and death.

I like to get one every couple months for clean-up purposes. Just tell 'em to take a little off the top.

When my son was born 2 and half years years ago, nurses would come in every 2 hours asking if my son has been circumcised yet... It was annoying. Good thing my next child is a girl so I won't get hassled again.

I.e. like the rules of kashrut (kosher), it made a lot sense, health-wise, at the time.

That would be my guess. They probably had a lot of dick rot years ago, so they ended up codifying circumcision in religion to help get rid of dick rot. Religious texts were the first law books written by humans to regulate, and control human behavior.

Heh. The old nurses were taught that it was something that needed to be done, and just like any old dog, most don't want or haven't taken the time to learn new tricks.

They asked me the question twice. The first time on the questionaire. The second time, when I told them I'd already answered the question, filled out the questionaire, and they'd be hearing from a lawyer if they did something to my son without my express permission.

Nurses and doctors think they're gods in their little hospital kingdoms, and it takes a bit of work to disabuse them of that notion and impress upon them that they may NOT do anything they want to your wife or your child.

We put a sign in our son's basket that read: "No hospital circumcision". They assumed (correctly) that we were Jewish.
