Cinema Etiquette

Someone is using their phone and talking loudly in the Cinema, what do you do?

  • I express my displeasure with them and ask them to stop

  • I exit the screen and inform the nearest employee so that they deal with it

  • I sit quietly and say nothing, feeling irritated

  • It doesn't bother me

  • I'm one of those people.

I work in my local Cinema, and now I can't just sit there quietly while people use their phones or talk loudly.

What do you do when someone is sat there texting or talking loudly or doing something equally irritating?

I don't go to the movies often....and I have never actually come across this.

3D movie and a cell phone rings....
Everyone start answering calls and start texting....
 
Here in the states they run PSAs before the move telling people to turn their cell phones off. The only time I have had the problem with people on phones or being loud was when the only close theater was in the wrong part of town. Now that we have one locally it is no longer an issue. Back then I complained to a manager and got free tickets.

We run the same PSA's but some people are dicks.

People never make phone calls in screens but sometimes they text.

Since I live in America I pull out my pistol and shoot them.
 
I had a brilliant idea for a cell phone screen that was maybe like, polarized, so it could turn on with no backlight and then you could use a pair of glasses to actually see the screen so you could text/surf/whatever without bothering anyone else around you with the light.

But why go to a theater and talk/text/surf? Sometimes, your wife drags you to go see Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and you give up five minutes in...

But theaters are dead anyways... I give it 20 years, max.

I hope not I adore the cinema, I'll be going there till the end, twice a week.
 
I've sorta been one of those people by accident from time to time (not using my phone, just making comments too loudly) so I'll usually let it pass the first couple of times. Repeat offenders get asked nicely to be quiet, and serious offenders I go find an employee.
 
They get one "Can you please go outside to talk on the phone," followed shortly by "Shut the fuck up!"
 
I only go to movies at the Alamo Drafthouse for the following reasons:

1) no children allowed
2) order/drink beer while you watch
3) report rude moviegoers around you by raising an order tag with a complaint

It's the only good way to watch movies at the theatre.

That being said, I was texting during the last movie I went to. I didn't have my ringer on or anything, though.

I've never seen anyone actually make a phone call in a screen.

I think I just notice this stuff more now that I work at a cinema....

Lol, I would like to buy you a ticket to a movie in New Orleans East and sit on the opposite side of the theater and watch the hilarity.

There's no point in telling people like that off. 9/10 times, that asshole is just going to try to escalate it. "Who the fuck made you king of the theatre?! I'll talk on my damn phone if I want to." You can thank our "me first, screw everyone else" society for that. I'd love to see them bring back ushers for that reason. Give those losers the bum's rush.

Or better yet, just buy a big screen TV, Blu-ray player, and watch all the movies you want in the peace and quiet of your living room.

In my Cinema I walk in and out of every screen every 15 minutes, if someone is being a dick they get kicked out, no refund.

So it's always a good idea to tell them to shut up, then if they don't complain to a member of staff so they can be removed.
