Heh.

Pretty soon, EVERYONE but the most wealthy will be self insured via HSA. At the end of 2007, 69% of companies offered health insurance. Today, just 62% offer health insurance and the plans offered cover less and cost more. Yep, great choices there.

Sits back and waits for someone to tell me that I can get better and AFFORDABLE insurance by buying it myself instead of employer plan.

You can get more affordable insurance premiums and one that may meet your needs better if you get it yourself. Notice the difference.

Thanks for the laugh on this dreary Thursday morning.

Have you ever had to shop around or pay for insurance yourself? Have you ever competitively shopped different insurance brokers and plans for yourself or your employees?

My guess is you haven't. I have. I speak the truth.

No, you used eHealthInsurance.com and think the low quotes represent everyone.

Stupid people are stupid.

OMG 3% profit margin!

They are raising premiums because you fat fucks are costing more to treat.

OMG 20% overhead.

Only .80 of every dollar makes it to the medical field on average. Let alone the millions that is paid to middle men.

Yea government will provide cheaper overhead for sure! They won't create a retardedly expensive bureaucracy! I'm a retarded HR monkey who doesn't know how to analyze financials!

Taiwan's overhead for their UHC is 3.5%, you're fucking retarded

Ours went up 11% so we switched providers. Slightly reduced coverage but the price stays the same so I'm ok with it. I'm very pro-mandate, of my co-workers (who are all 20-30 years old) about 20% reject coverage for no other reason than they think they have better things to spend $100 per month on (for a $375/mo plan). I mean this includes health, vision, and dental. Fucking morons that we all have to pay for.

I'm getting a 13% increase, same as last year.

Increase in pay or ins. costs??.

Increase in insurance costs, I took a 10% cut in pay this year along with everyone else in my division.

Sorry, my condolences and welcome to ass-stretched-mile-wide club....

I went and did the math on the cost of the health care premium increase, it's less than $300 for the year so it's not too terrible. I'm supposed to get that 10% pay back in January and the proposed budget for next year even has some reserved for raises :Q We haven't done a layoff even though all of our major competitors have been pretty aggressive with job cuts. As everything stands, I can't complain how my company has acted to keep people in their jobs.

Besides, private health insurance is somewhat useless for the first 18 months you have it under the existing rules. If you file for a major claim during that time, they'll go through your medical records with a fine tooth comb to find anything that they can call a "pre-existing condition" and deny coverage.

Sadly, this is something that you need to learn the hard way to believe.

Rate went up $400/yr for next year and vision no longer included - now that's going to be extra. Also company says they're gradually increasing the load on employee to take on 25% of the premium vs the current 20% to "align" with what other companies are paying in the next two years. So rates go up and I'm paying for increased share with coverage being reduced. Guess I know where a good chunk of my raise is going - if there's a raise that is.
