Chrono Trigger coming out on DS?!

I read (neogaf) that this is an enhanced port of the snes game which is too bad (for me anyways..lol) I"m sure many here will buy it regardless but I was hoping for a direct sequel or maybe a remake ala FF3 and 4 (ugly ds 3d or not).

i would love to play through again and finally see all the endings i missed when i was a kid... level up all my characters, utilize the new game +s...

by the way, i'd also love to see chrono cross again. that game is extremely underrated and was lost in the fray over the years.

It was great how they crapped on every character from the original game

Also, Radical Dreamers wasn't that great, so I doubt it'll be re-released anytime soon.

Explain. It's been a while since I've played CC and I know the story has elements from CT but I can't remember anything that went down in CC that could be construed as "crapping on" the original.

They crapped on Crono and Marle by destroying their intent and having their kingdom inexplicably fall to doom.

They crapped on Lucca as they burned her orphanage. The sad, charred remains of Gato caused a stirring in my soul like no other.

They crapped on Magus by disregarding him completely and deeming him incompetent of finding his own sister, even though in CT he was supposed to be the best mage that existed.

They crapped on Frog by making Glenn in CC.

Etc, etc.

There are other small things that the developers did, in my opinion, just to separate the game from it's worshiped predecessor. This effectively created two very distinct games and very distinct groups of fans.

First Diablo 3 and now this?!

Oh mama! I hope this also includes the original should you beat the whole thing through (complete with all the endings you can find).

And I hope this means a direct sequal for the series. Hopefully it doesn't bite.

Did you read the contents of the thread?

It is just a port of the original game, if the reporters are correct. They will probably add some small upgrades, like the PS1 version did.

What's so special about this game? I bought one of those PLAYSTATION GREATEST HITS FINAL FANTASY CHRONICLES that included Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger about 4 years ago. Is it that good? Maybe I should play it.

The new content sounds pretty cool. Dual screen use, multiplayer (what'll this be like?), new dungeon, etc. Not sure if any of that is just a rumor though.

This is outstanding news. If it's a straight port, that'll be great. If they add some extra stuff, even better!

It's one of the best games of all time, and still holds up today as a solid RPG.

I adored it growing up on the SNES, and I played the Chronicles version (which is alright, though it suffers from quite a bit of graphical errors and lag as it's essentially just a ROM emulated by your playstation).

Chrono Cross is its "successor".

I can't say I'm incredibly excited about this new version, though. I suppose it's great for those who never played it.

Trailer of sorts. Shows some gameplay, but who knows if this is how it will look on the DS. Especially since there are two screens to utilize.

This is good since many people have probably never played Chrono Trigger so they have a chance to experience it for the first time now and what better platform for this than the Nintendo DS?

It's a really solid RPG. I used to be disdainful of console RPGs until I gave CT a try. After I tried it for a second time, I got hooked on the genre.

If you can get past its severely dated graphics, definitely give it a try.
