You played translations of 4 & 6. FF2 and FF3 are completely different games released for the NES.

Calling 4-> 2 and 6->3 screws up the numbering convention.

I've been wondering about this for awhile.... Just how many FF games are there? If there really is a 1-6 then the 6 games that have come after would make 12. Is there a 1-6 or were some re-released versions?

FF 1,2,3 NES (I'm not sure if 2 or 3 were released in the states)
FF 4,5,6 SNES (You can play 5 on some ff cd...anthologies, or something like that)
FF 7,8,9 PSX
FF 10,10-2,11 PS2
FF Mystic Quest SNES
FF Legends 1 - 3 Gameboy

12 coming out soon.

Maybe they were translations of 4 and 6, I'm aware that there were other games in Japan. but I am not in Japan, and I did not play anything on my super famicom. My games specifically said II and III.

They only said 2 and 3 because the US didn't have releases of 2,3 and 5 back then.

Calling ff4 ff2 confuses things, since ff1 and 2 were released on the psx under the title "final fantasy origins"

http://www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/ffo/ffo.html

I believe when ff4 was released for the psx, it was given the title ff4 as well, despite the fact that it was called 2 in the US. same goes for ff6. By this time, it was well known that there existed a final fantasy 2 and 3.

Why do you stand on using an antiquated, faulty naming system?

Sure, I'll pay $75 for a game which I already own on one system, just to play it on another

There's always emulation... :)

FFVI, FFVII favorite FF games, I also liked FFIV and who can forget the original FFI that started it all.

Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger are other great SNES RPG's. :)

PS2? PS1 Disc? What about the SNES, man!? It rox0red my box0rz much more and way before the PS ever did!

Well of course I've played Chrono Trigger on SNES, but that was like 8 years ago when SNES was still popular and Chrono Trigger had only been out for a year or so. I'd love to play it on SNES again (to avoid load times) but I don't own a SNES nor do I own the Chrono Trigger cartridge for SNES and I don't feel like spending a hundred dollars or more just to play it on the original system.

Actually FF Adventure was Secret of Mana I (in Japan). Secret of Mana (the US one) was really the second one in the series, and the third was only released in Japan. Secret of Evermore was a US only release. Square seems to screw up all sorts of translations & numbering!
