FF3/6 beats it. Easily IMO. But CT is still an unbelievable game. No new games come close to the scope and story of those games IMO.

I'm glad to see several people mention Mario RPG as one of the best RPGs ever, and I absolutely agree with the poster that stated SNES had (and still has) some of the best games ever created. Why can't they make games like that anymore?

Yeah Chrono trigger was an excellent game. It was known as the dream collaboration between a group of very skilled developers and it certainly turned out like that. I really liked the sequel Chrono Cross as well. Chrono Cross held that old school feeling and delivers unique graphics and gameplay. I really liked FF6 as well. In fact back in the day large debates online insued over FF6 vs Chrono Trigger since they were released at relatively the same time.

Yeah gaming has definently fallen since those days....
