Interesting twist. Your side seems to LOVE power when it holds it, and will abuse it (and spend others' money) to their hearts' content - usually feeling "I deserve this" the whole while.
When your side does not hold power, anyone in authority is automatically "evil". This isn't new but it's nice to see it so clear-cut.

Obama was in power for a bit over a couple of years with a Congressional Majority. In that time period, as per you and your ilk, he should have set up FEMA death camps, taken everyone's guns - or at least made an effort, and try to completely socialize medicine to the point it was totally state run. Hence the sky is falling warnings of you and your kind were nothing but delusional fantasies.

Nobody on the Democratic mainstream side really categorized the next Republican Congressional majorities as evil. The word I heard used a lot was obstructionist. And that seems to fit the bill pretty well actually.

I do think police brutality is a problem, and I for one was very happy for the part played by BLM and the creation of technologies that makes it possible to expose these atrocities. Most people I know neither like the abuse of African Americans by cops nor the increased militarization of cops. They never asked us, they have their own culture and it reinforces bad decisions.

I feel frankly like cops have kinda turned into pussies, as they are too quick to take down ANYONE over maybe risking their skins for a second to de-escalate the situation or at the very least get a better assessment. But that might not be a fixable problem, as the whole society has more pussies now and we might not have enough brave people to fill out police squad without policies of mowing possible offenders down.

Given that, the solution might be cops treating everyone how they treat African Americans which I don't think is what BLM or anyone wants. But I would accept it if it is the only solution possible.

I think that any group that focuses on a single race promoting its needs above others is misaligned and I cannot support it. I don't support BLM any more than I can support right wingers trying to take away a woman's right to choose. We have laws that apply equally to all people and a crime is a crime regardless of who the involved parties are. Racism has many faces and BLM is just another among them. I see BLM as the new Klan.

This isn't unreasonable, however my reaction to BLM is that yes, black lives matter and they matter just as much as everybody else's lives, not more, no less. Everybody's lives matter equally.

There used to be a Black Muslim Bakery business around here. They were eventually implicated in some pretty nasty and shady practices of many kinds including IIRC depressing things like semi-slavery, torture, murder, tax evasion, bigamy... it's been a while, I don't remember the details. I went in their store a time or two and got a very weird vibe that wasn't comfortable.

I watched The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution, a documentary recently released. They were a much more positive organization. For quite a while although they were into open-carrying of firearms, there was virtually no violence associated with them. They were a beacon of hope to much of a generation of black Americans. J. Edgar Hoover decided to stomp them out and directed the legions of the F.B.I. to use any means necessary to do so including out and out assassination.

What you fail to understand, is that you are instantly on a whole different playing field as an American. You don't have an instant bias and fear of law enforcement, you can get loans and insurance easier, you would (for example) be able to actually rent a Trump property. You fail to see how this is at all related to slavery, the civil war, jim crow, and modern bigotry... and how those might currently affect the lives of black americans?

The atrocities that your ancestors suffered were great as were many different groups of people throughout history. Your nemesis won't mention the millions of Jews that were incinerated by Hitler during WW2 because that wasn't suffering enough. I agree, but the movement has moved beyond that though. Inequality of policing towards the black community is no longer the central focus unfortunately. Now there are people looking for things to be offended about just because they want to feel like they are part of this too. It's morphed into blame whites for everything unfortunate which solves nothing and certainly fans the racial flames.

"My" Black Lives Matter? I'm actually a white male with very little local political involvement, so I can hardly claim ownership of BLM... as much as I might like to take credit for the largest currently operational movement for social justice in America. Police are brutalizing many people, but they still do so to black people at much greater frequency. When Americans seek recourse through the court system it is only the black people who seem to be unable to get any kind of justice.


The real question here, is why are you unable to understand very basic statistics... and why are you cultivating this status as a victim? You seem to feel you've suffered equally to people who have suffered centuries of slavery, discrimination, and poor treatment from the government merely because your relatives were marginally inconvenienced for 40 or so months half a century ago. And you continue to help cultivate other poster's victim status by claiming their relatives in other countries suffering somehow ameliorates the current situation in the US regarding black people.

Militarization & aggression of american police is directly tied to firearm proliferation, and for good reason of self-preservation. I've never seen it so bad in another first world country.
