I wonder what the next revision will be called. "The New and Improved New New Testament"
The Book of Mormon?

They are not attacked, we simply ask that the laws that are already in place be applied to Christians as well as minority groups. You are seeing demands for equal treatment as an attack.
I highly recommend the NIVI wonder what the next revision will be called. "The New and Improved New New Testament"
Aww, the poor oppressed Christians! When will someone come forward to stand up for this underfunded, defenseless minority?
Oh, wait - THOSE Christians. They're a group to which the majority of Americans belong, have virtually boundless wealth, and overwhelmingly control all branches of government at the state, federal and local level. I guess I was whining for nothing.
The law should be applied equally to ALL PEOPLE. But we what we have now is cases where Christianity gets unfair treatment but Other minorities get special treatment. This is wrong and must end
Boundless wealth? You been smoking crack?Aww, the poor oppressed Christians! When will someone come forward to stand up for this underfunded, defenseless minority?

FYI...Christian income pretty much tracks with the national average.Christians, as a whole, control the overwhelming majority of all wealth in this country. Obviously I'm not saying every American Christian is wealthy, but collectively their wealth and political influence is enormous, and certainly greater than that of any other religious affiliation (e.g., there has never been a President who was not a Christian). The point is, we're not talking about a group that can't defend itself.

If Christians have so much political influence...please tell me why abortion is still legal in this country?
Because we are a constitutional republic not a direct democracy. That means that we follow a set of ethical concepts set down, and do not vote on who gets what freedoms.
Even then, it is a close thing.

I didn't say they were disproportionately wealthy - it's just that in raw numbers, Christians control the most wealth, because they make up more than three quarters of all Americans. We are not talking about a group that is at risk of being marginalized or taken advantage of - they control the overwhelming majority of this country's wealth and power.
Also something like .2% of inmates are atheists so we seem to be doing pretty good. Maybe you should start listening to us more instead of whining about us ruining your good time in fantasy land.
In my opinion, outside of "god not existing", I have yet run into two separate Atheists that share the same.. thoughts... shall I say.
Meaning, all Christians believe in God and Christ (that may differ to varying degrees, though) and generally are moral people.
However in my limited experience talking to them, Atheists really seem not to agree on much at all outside of "God not existing".
I know they don't have a "belief system", but if the want to call themselves a group or whatever, then I should get the same response from all of them generally about what they "believe" in, for lack of a better word.
A lot of atheists are moral as well. Being moral and ethical have very little to do with belief or faith in G-d.
I see, so members of other groups, religious or otherwise should have a group mind and a group speak? Atheism is a denial of G-d's existence; no "belief" in something else is needed.
*sigh
Not what I was saying, I was just identifying Christians in general as an example.
They believe in separation of Church and State.
They believe in separation of Church and State.
It's a good principle by which to govern. I don't think either one of us want to live in one the worlds' current countries that don't separate Church and State.
My opinion is this:
I don't think it will make anything better here, in fact, it may get even worse. They want to oust religion out of politics, but... they will not go without a fight.
If you ask me, I'd say religion has helped them. Churches have endorsed and supported candidates of various offices (though, they can't officially endorse them without running the risk of not being non-profit). I'd go as far as to say that's it's been a "scratch my back, and I will scratch yours" type relationship.
It's gone too far to just "part ways peacefully".
