Some of the funniest comments I've ever read on ATOT have been in this thread so far...

On a more serious note, no... based on my beliefs about Revelation, we are not in the end times of the anti-Christ... methinks we're in an interim period.

First, their must be a beast, to have the mark of him. Until then, we can't have his mark.

Do you not believe in the book of Revelations?

How do you interpret the book? I'm dying to know.

oh: Does the title say everyone read this post? To me it looks like it's targeted to Christians, meaning it was intended for only Christians to read it.

What I believe is personal, between me and my God.

I don't believe in books. I believe in God. And if that is too difficult to understand, then you are not a true Christian.

The Bible is the word of God as interpreted by man. Faith is more than words on a page. It is what is in your heart and head.

As for Revelation: I think the church should have stuck to its first decision reguarding that book. It has no correlation to any other Book in the Bible and seems more the product of a confused and twisted, possibly bi-polar, mind.

I believe that the messiah will return. I believe that there will be a final judgement. I do not believe there will be any of this good vs evil apocalypse. This is where I differ from that book.

I don't believe there is a hell. I don't believe in the devil either. These are excuses to put blame for bad/stupid/wrong behaviour. Each person is responsible for their conduct in life because God gave us the intelligence to make decisions, good or bad. This is what we will be judged on.

This should be the centre of Christian faith. Worrying about the specifics of the Bible is a useless endeavour. The Bible (old and New testaments) are a series of parables designed to teach you to think properly and about others instead of yourself. Getting along with others, no matter what the differences are, is the point of the Bible. Believe in God and yourself and be a good person are what is important. And also to understand that people will make mistakes as we maybe made in God's image, we are far from perfect.

That is the cornerstone of my faith. I am not worried about appearing as a good Christian, because that is not what a Christian is about. Put into practice what you believe to be true and right. Live a life to its fullest while being the best you can be and while doing as much as possible to help your fellow man. God will take care of the rest.

This microchip that they're talking about, isn't it the mark of the beast?

For all of you who are in here reading this thinking WTF do you believe that crap for, please just butt out and leave this thread alone.

Anyhow, isn't that "the mark of the beast?" that is spoken about in the bible? Where everyone will eventually have this implanted chip and it will take over as a way of how we do business. It will be our driver's license, our id, our $, etc...

What are your thoughts? If this thread gets out of hand we can go ahead and start a private topic.

Thanks in advance.

WTF do you believe that crap for?

I am a Christian (Roman Catholic) and even went to Catholic elementary and high schools, and I don't even think like that. I have had my fair share of bible lessons, but # of the beast crap is retarded.

None of my teachers would take revelation that seriously, due to the surrealism of it.

Stop taking that crap so seriously. You cannot interpret Revelation using modern ideas and trying to fit them to some twisted tale written 1000 years ago.

On the other hand: it could lead us into becomming the Borg. That should be worrying you the most.

Well, let's take a look at a few things. I haven't read revelations in years so my memory may be a bit fuzzy but the general idea should be correct. This is just a post to show the connection between the symbolic events mentioned in revelation and how they can easily be connected with reality.

Revelations starts off all the bad things that happen by saying something like a mountain of fire will fall from the sky. To me that sounds an awful lot like a comet or meteor. We're certainly due for one of those. Not like it hasn't happened before.

Revelations says that all the 1/3 of the things in the sea will be killed. If a meteor stike were to hit the an ocean (which is most likely) that would be easily accomplished.

Revelations says the sun will be darkened for a period of time which I don't remember off the top of my head. Now, if the theory on the meteor is correct a strike large enough could easily cook off many of the worlds volcanoes. All that ash being released into the atmoshpere at once would, of course, blot out the sun. There have already been instances of this happening on a smaller scale.

Revelations says 1/3 of the waters will be poisoned iirc. Now, with a meteor stike would come earthquakes of course. Which could very possibly destroy many nuclear reactors. Nuclear contamination would certainly poison the water I'd think. The interesting part about this is it says something called "wormwood" will be responsible for the poisoning of the water. Now, in Russian, "wormwood" translates into cherynobyl. I think we all know what happened there. That is just a little too coincidental in my opinion.

And lastly, the mark of the beast which, according to the bible will be on you body and be needed to buy and sell iirc. I think we're certainly moving in that direction. No more theft, no drug sales, robbing a bank would be useless, ability to track criminals, sex offenders, and of course, terrorists. Anyone who doesn't think chipping will become mandatory in the next decade is high. Especially considering the terrorisim scare which sets this up perfectly.

Anyway, you can say revelations can't be taken literally but I can't really agree with you.

It will not become mandatory ever. You guys are taking things way too seriously.

For you guys to be correct, it will require a conspiracy from every company and government to follow the book of Revelation (there is no s on it). Its not going to happen.

Who told you wormwood = cherynobyl? Stop paying attention to those that tell you that crap.

I am not a highly religious person, but, I was taught to beware of anyone trying to interpret the word of God. Only the true prophet of God (messiah) can do that. All others are false prophets.
I've heard the wormwood=Chernobyl myself from two different professors. First was from my Russian language professor, second was from one of my history professors who was a Russian expert.

As a native Russian speaker I will tell you that much "wormwood" is NOT "Chernobyl", not even close, not even remotely. As a matter of fact, Chernobyl is in Ukraine, thus it's name is ukrainian. I have lived 50 miles from Chernobyl for 14 years before the accident and for 6 more years after, and havn't seen the signs of Satan, sorry to disappoint you.

Nope. But Christians who read the Bible should know what the books are called.

So where in the Bible does it say, "...and if you don't know all of the names of the books of the Bible perfectly, thou shalt burn in the lake of fire?"

Iron Wood:

I'll end with this post, because I don't feel like agruing with you.

I agree that your relationship with God is personal and is between the the both of you.

However, I disagree with your view of Christianity. From what it looks like is that you came up with what you want to believe and if that's the way you want to interpret it then fine. As long as you honestly beleive that God sent His son to die for your sins, and the fact that we all sin.

On a side note, if you do not believe in Hell, they why have a judgement? What happens to the non-believers? I'm not trying to bash your logic, just being curious.

Take care,

Michael Chang

:( Sorry to hear that. Not many people know that 8 million ukrainians were wiped out in WWII, far more then Jews, not that it minimizes jewish tragedy.

I know I sound kind of odd but it is what I believe. Most of us come up with what we want to believe. I am a good person and do make mistakes from time to time, but I do follow Jesus's teachings nearly to the letter. I help when I can. I try to get along with everyone. I make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. Just because I don't take Revelation seriously doesn't mean I am not a good Christian. But I believe actions not words or deeds (i know it sounds contrary) are important. I define deeds as going through the motions but not with conviction.

On this board I use my sense of humour to help out or to let off steam. I don't tolerate stupidity, because I see it as a waste.

Where I work, my boss is Muslim. We get along fine and joke about each others religion. We have disagreements (the Isreal/Palestinian stuff) but treat each other as family. That should be the goal of everyone everywhere. That is my faith in action.

I am half Ukrainian and I stated earlier that wormwood is not Chernobyl. This is the kind of nonsense spread by Christians that have an agenda that is not very Christian. You don't lie and make up stories to fool people.
/Hands Iron Woode a  Bud'mo! Where are you ancestors from? I am from Kiev
I am not sure because my grandparents came to Canada in the early 1920's. Most of my European relatives were wiped out in concentration camps in WW2.
:( Sorry to hear that. Not many people know that 8 million ukrainians were wiped out in WWII, far more then Jews, not that it minimizes jewish tragedy.
Its not common knowledge. I know a few relatives did survive. We heard from a long lost aunt back in the mid 60's. Not sure of anyone else. My grandmother was a peasant farm girl. I would have to do a lot of asking to find out more.

LOL. You're faith in action is to treat everyone as family. Do you call your family "fools"? Do you disrespect them by telling them they're "not true christians"? Congratulations on the double standard you hold yourself to. Let me know how that works out for you. You might want to work on that though. I don't think preaching something you don't practice is what a "true christian" would do

My last post in this thread:

I said I don't tolerate stupidity, because it is a waste. You are now acting stupid.

You wanted replies from those who think like you. Only a fool wants such a narrow point of view as a response.

When was the last time you followed Christ's teachings?

Spreading lies about Revelation like that wormwood crap. That isn't very christian now is it?

The truth can be painfull. Telling the thruth and hurting someone feelings is better than lying to them.

I have attempted to be tolerant and open minded about this thread. You have been condesending, biligerant and very arrogant. Those are the signs of emotional instability.

My boss and I get along like family. That means we argue and laugh about our differences.

What's next? Are you going to rail against homosexuals too? Some of my friends are gay. Are you going to attack them too?

Like I said: it sounds like you have some growing up to do. You should get started soon.
