Christians: Do you believe in the rapture?

if kerry wins the election the end of the world also known as the revolation (can't spell) will come sooner all cuz of the gays it's all there fault. if they weren't so proud of being gay then the end of the world will come later but they r n kerry supports them so it's his fault 2. man the end of the world is comming soon

which is a good thing cuz us christans will have a better after life but then it's way scary cuz it's the end of the world and watching the people we cared about dying and watching the world b distroyed .......way scary man

Is this a widely held belief or a false generalization? Most Christians I know haven't talked about it , but some have.

And no, not all Christians believe in rapture, I believe that is mainly a Baptist belief if I'm not mistaken.

I was not aware that the rapture was a commonly disputed doctrinal point, the second coming of Christ & subsequent hell on earth is pretty central to Christian beliefs.

The Catholic and Protestant reformer agree with Augustine generally on this issue. They say we don?t know specifically what happens and to get too specific about it is a false teaching. Millinialism has been declared a false teaching since 431. So much for what they don?t believe, as that could fill volumes. With respect to the rapture, Catholics certainly believe that the event of our gathering together to be with Christ will take place, which is literally what the word means: to be wrapt up in (Christ) upon Christ?s return.

FYI, "The Book" was shoved down my throat for 13 years. Old, New and Otherwise Testaments. I used to know it inside and out. I've intentionally forgotten it all, b/c it's all a load of BS. I make my own decisions based on the real world and what works here. NOT what was allegedly written 1,000 years ago to tell me what will work for me in the afterlife. Thanks for making a brilliant suggestion, though.

In reference to MichaelD, converting someone is beyond the scope of this thread. However, even if you think the Bible is completely made up, you can still answer they question just like we all did regarding points made in fictional books we read in high school English. And our Authority on the "made up" work is still the early church Fathers who gave us the Canon. We know what they said the Bible says, even if we don't believe the Bible is divinely inspired.

And "nobody will know" when the end will happen.
So if they are saying it will happen on/around a specific date, it won't.

WHY do we judge a *whole group* just b/c a few of them say or do weird stuff?

So you have a grudge against your creator because mommy and daddy made you go to catholic school where nuns beat you with a ruler. Guess what? NO ONE CARES. Back to the OP's question, i believe most Christians believe in the Rapture, but as with most things in the Bible, everyone has a different interpretation of it.
