Chris Hardwick latest victim of #MeToo

"He succeeded. I was blacklisted. With the assistance of a woman who’d gained my trust and my heart over the past year, he steamrolled my career. The woman actively made it her mission to destroy my friendships. And she did, because by the time they’d realized she was… an unreliable source… the damage had already been done. To be fair, in break-ups like this one, some friends will just naturally gravitate towards the person who wields more power (and the ability to employ them), especially in the business I’m in- despite whatever history exists. Still, there’s so much more to that woman’s story (including 6 other women whose reputations/careers she attempted to sabotage) but I don’t want to digress too far from my point, which is abusive relationships, not friendships. This time in my life was agony.

One night, I found myself on top of an overpass, looking down at the 101, at the lowest point in my life. I’d lost many of my friends, the woman I’d considered my sister was trying to destroy me and I had no idea why, and the career I’d built from scratch had toppled- I was blacklisted from my industry at the age of 25."

Who is this woman she keeps mentioning, and why doesn't she name her? She should be ousted just as much as Chris has.

All it takes is an accusation and career is toast, regardless of the validity of it. Sad. I am not defending anyone, i just wish there was more proof than he said/she said when it comes to a lot of these things. Like lets have a trial and if he is guilty then you can trash his career 🙂

I agree, but I also have no problem with how this is currently playing out, because for decades and centuries, I guess, it has been nearly impossible for victims to go public about their abuse, without fear of targeted, dedicated reprisal, or simply being ignored by the legal authority. It's indeed a shame that some likely innocent people might be toast for this, but you kinda need the shock and awe of the movement, in this vast scope, to spur the whole culture to seriously recognize the toxicity of generations and generations of abuse, and actually do something about it.

I think the goal is to both establish a proper punitive outlet and process, as well as to empower the abused to speak out about their abuse, knowing that there is actually a system that will treat them with respect and their complaints with the attention that it deserves.

Guilty until proven innocent in the Court of Waman. Companies fire people because it's easier in order to avoid potential bad publicity as a means of damage control... And forever we continue this vicious cycle of moronic behavior as people for some strange reason embrace taking a dump on everything in which this country was founded on.

True. Maybe the penalty for lying about these types of things should be criminal with prison time also. Just to make it not a good idea to try and ruin someones career over a vendetta or something. Give them the power to come forth, but you best not be lying kind of thing. Although its kind of hard to know if they are lying in these cases because lots of times there is no evidence it ever happened other than one persons word against another. Its a slippery slope for sure.

The penalty for lying about rape should be on the same level as someone accused of rape. The level of damage that does to a person will be forever ingrained into society.

If there are no repercussions for it then it will keep happening.

its funny how the blog sounds like someone who took english in university. Very well written and articulated.

Dont get why he is so hated. Annoying, maybe obnoxious humor at times, yes but no worse so than others. I just laugh him off.

Well, the country was founded on lies, deceit, and murder so it kind of fits. Greed and power is what is behind nearly every bad thing we see related to this topic. Coverups and quietly sweeping things under the rug is just to keep the money coming in. Business as usual.

Jilted women can post anything they want to ruin a man's life these days.
Why didn't she walk away? Or contact someone?
