Controlling is NOT the same thing as sexual abuse.
That's kind of my point. This is different than being a movie mogul and using your power of dishing out roles to hungry actresses trying to make it in the business.....or serving your lady guests jello shooters laced with Rohypnol.

I'm not defending the guy. It's not ok that he's controlling and a jerk to someone and puts his career and money ahead of personal relationships, but that doesn't make him a criminal or worthy of slander. His celebrity, however, opens him up to it. We'll see how his PR team reacts to this, if he gets one/has one....TMZ, I think already started showing that she tried to get back with him after their breakup in texts she sent him. This really looks like an ex-revenge situation now that he keeps getting higher up the food chain and she's still a nobody.

I agree.. but she claims that he abused her sexually by forcing her to do acts she didn't want to do. No clue how true that is, and I am a bit disturbed at the fact that we can now somehow retro-remove consent later on. She did say that he continued even though she was crying. I'm not sure that is abuse (a lot more details would have to show up to be sure.. and even more reasons would have to be given for me to really care about it one way or the other) but if true..it's a really dick thing to do.

I guess the problem here is, putting aside the abuse claims, he 'allegedly' had her blackballed. That, I'm told, is the abuse of power. I'm sure that the geek media world isn't that big so it wouldn't be hard for him to do it. I don't think it makes him a criminal, and honestly I've not heard anyone claim he is. The most I've heard is that he's an asshole and people don't want to support someone that would act this way. When your product is you, the act you do cause these kind of repercussions. Having said that I won't miss the commercials, or the small space before I pick up the remote to change the channel/delete the video, of him trying to explain to me why it was the most important ever because Negan passed gas.

If you're in a relationship with a player in your industry like that, it's the risk you take. What I'm saying, I suppose is that in the freelance world, maybe company ink isn't the only thing you should be mindful of.

She shouldn't post about it online though. She should take some Wellbutrin and talk to her shrink about why she isn't married. The approach she took just makes her sound like another damaged goods millennial.

If she files a police report or lawsuit against Hardwick for something relevant, I'll change my tune. I just wish people would keep relationship stuff to themselves. I'm tired of this stuff making the news.

One more point....my daughter is going to get a lesson in how to act and what not to put up with in another 10 years. I'm going to school her on how guys really are behind closed doors and hopefully she won't ever put up with anything like that...but she certainly won't be posting anything on social media. That's so 2007.

In this world with social media you act like an asshole to someone you run the risk of it becoming shared with the world. More so if you're a 'player in your industry'. I don't know, or really care too much if he did the things she claims, but if he did black ball her, it seems to me that she just returned the favor..

I agree, but I also have no problem with how this is currently playing out, because for decades and centuries, I guess, it has been nearly impossible for victims to go public about their abuse, without fear of targeted, dedicated reprisal, or simply being ignored by the legal authority. It's indeed a shame that some likely innocent people might be toast for this, but you kinda need the shock and awe of the movement, in this vast scope, to spur the whole culture to seriously recognize the toxicity of generations and generations of abuse, and actually do something about it.

I think the goal is to both establish a proper punitive outlet and process, as well as to empower the abused to speak out about their abuse, knowing that there is actually a system that will treat them with respect and their complaints with the attention that it deserves.

As long as it aint you I guess. Fuck em, it's for the better cause.

So basically an ex-alcoholic comedian who channeled all that baggage that into being a successful and controlling, OCD, workaholic, Hollywood podcast media producer turns out to be exactly as advertised.

Chris Hardwick was reinstated.

Looks like 3 of his ex-girlfriends have spoke out in favor of him. 3 to 1 then. 4 if you count his wife.

I hold the hypothesis that a guy who abuses women in relationships do it repeatedly to all their girlfriends.

Looks like Dykstra and Hardwick were just like oil and water ween't a very good match in a relationship and the #metoo movement that started in response to real monsters like Weinstein and Cosby was directed at an apparently non-monstrous person.

Now that he's been reinstated we can move to the next one: Les Moonves, president and CEO of CBS.
https://money.cnn.com/2018/07/27/media/les-moonves-new-yorker-allegations/index.html

"Six women told New Yorker writer Ronan Farrow that Moonves sexually harassed them. CNN has not independently confirmed the allegations."

Moonves responded with "I recognize that there were times decades ago when I may have made some women uncomfortable by making advances. Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely." Oops!
