People on this very board have informed me that DFI > MSI for socket 754.

So get the Lanparty.

I just purchased the DFI Lanparty UT from Newegg with the same processor. It arrived the other day but i haven't put it together yet. I'm in the same scenario as you. I figured that the reviews for this board were good and they say its a really good board to overclock with, so I won't be completely obsolete for as long lol. Plus i want someone else to troubleshoot with if the problem arrises. Sweet looking board too. Plus it comes with all the IDE cables you need.

Nice box art too (if that matters).

DFI Lanparty. However ABIT is coming out with an NF3-250 board to rival the Lanparty. And IMO, Abit > DFI.

But the questions would then be:

Can he wait?
Is it (Or will it be) in his price range?

Even if it comes out tomorrow, i'd wait for the reviews to come out, and if time is of the essence....then what?

I don't know. I just gave him my $.02.

If your PSU is horisonally just above the board, in your case (know nothing about Lian cases), you could have problem with both of the ASUS boards and the DFI, fitting the Zalman 7000. Chaintech seem to have slightly more space, but could be a squeeze? The rest are probably OK with Z7000.

I'll not vote, since I have none of the above. I bought a bunch of cheap EPoX'es. Sofar they work ok. Runs HARD (100%). But no OC. Very bland, standard hardware periphelia, just PATA, integrated network, nVidia FX. So I haven't exactly taxed the boards.

DFI seem to be current fav with OCers. Praise for this board is primarily connected with OC properties.
Chaintech's board has a good rep on this forum. I've never tried them.
I've earlier happy experiences with Soltek. They are becoming a bit expensive to my cheap taste :)

I think one question is what kind of hd setup you're considering. Personally, after experimenting some, MO is that below SCSI, there's not much point in going for more than non-RAID standard 7200rpm 8MB cache IDE. PATA is least fuzz. If you settle for that, don't need GB LAN or firewire, a cheap board like the Chaintech could serve you well, but then, I'm a sucker for cheap stuff. :)

What rock have you been living under? The best ABIT bios engineer LEFT Abit to go work for DFI. Ontop of that, Abits boards are less then stellar and have WEAK 3.3V rails. Worst choice for overclocking an A64.

FYI you should know that a lot of 754 boards only have 2 DIMM slots which may limit your memory upgrades in the future, so I recommend a board with at least 3 DIMMs.

Anyway, I would choose DFI here, since I heard they are great overclockers.

I'd go with the Chaintech board as its solid and much cheaper than the DFI board. No way I'd pay 100+ bucks for a boards that will not use current technology in procs.

The key to upgradeability is the mobo and a s754 mobo will limit that.

The unoffical results are in and the DFI board wins. Again this is unofficial and not confirmed. The OP reserves the right to disregard all votes an opinions at his discretion.

Where are you getting your information from? If your going to insult the guy, you might want to put some facts behind your statements.. If that is the case, it wouldn't be PUBLIC record.. and unless you work for either ABIT or DFI, just hearsay.
