Alright...as we know, PC games can get into the cheap real fast and it's making a dent in my wallet(300+ backlog, no joke!). Which games should I start first and dedicate most of my time with :colbert:?

- The Witcher: enhanced ed. (just started, in chapter 2)

- Dead Space 2 (1st one is amazing)

- C&C 3 (fan of C&C series)

- FEAR 2 (enjoyed FEAR)

- Dragon age origins: collector's ed. (Read good reviews)

- Skyrim (Oblivion nut, 200 hrs spent since 06)

I would first finish scripted story-based campaigns in your games before going with Skyrim which might be the only game you'll be playing on a regular basis for weeks if not months. I'd go with Dragon Age: Origins first myself, then maybe Witcher or C&C3 for their campaigns (probably Witcher second, C&C3 as third since it has a short campaign).

That's just me though.

DAO, then Witcher, then Witcher 2.

You can watch the video cutscenes for C&C3 on Youtube, save yourself some time.

sell everything else.

Skyrim is enough to ruin your life... even before the mods.

but get few mods like FXAA, Font and maybe some textures here and there , oh yeah and 4gb fix.

I wouldn't start with open-world games (aka Skyrim) until I'm done with the story-based games (DAO, Witcher, etc.)

Well, if you are the type that likes Skyrim I'm guessing it will take up most of your game time. Consider that.

I used to have trouble deciding what games to play like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

That was a vote for skyrim by the way.

I would go with C&C3 first, since it is the shortest of those that I have played, and is a pretty good game.

Next I would go with The Witcher, since it is the second shortest, and also pretty good; especially from the second half of act 2 onward.

Next would be DA:O since it is longer, but is a very good game. It is still shorter than Skyrim though.

Last would be Skyrim, since that game will likely take up a few months of your time at least, so starting on that will keep you from enjoying the rest of your games. Plus, by the time you get to it, the game will likely have most of the bugs patched out, sicne you played the other games first.

I haven't played either FPS games on the list, but usually FPS games are rather quick, so you might want to do them first.

Witcher is a great game, Witcher2 totally deviates from the original, in every bad way possible. OPie should play Witcher, but stay away, far away from Witcher2.

I have to say that I completely disagree. The Witcher 2 was better in every way to the Witcher. I can't think of one area it which it was inferior to it. The Witcher 2 was probably the best RPG I think I have ever played. You are definitely in the minority as someone who prefers the original to the sequel in this case.

Skyrim is still full price so you should play that first before it gets cheaper. If you wait 6 months or more you could have gotten it on sale and thus you have lost money. The others are cheaper now so it doesn't matter. The economic analysis answered that for you.

This is also why I haven't bought skyrim yet, since I wouldn't be able to play it now anyway so it would just be a waste of money. I'll get it on sale. $25 and I'll get it!

It is sunk money regardless. Playing it now versus in the future isn't going to change that.

Plus, since it will get patched and updated more the longer he waits, it will actually be more fun in the future than now.

I still think he should go for the shorter story based games first, since they are all fun and he can get through most of them in a week or so.

You sure that wasn't an arrow in the Butt while drinking and hunting with your brother?

Like others here, i would strongly recommend keeping Skyrim till you don't have anything else, because it will subsume everything else. And i would definitely go DA:O and then Witcher. I might recommend Deadspace 2 inbetween as it will probably go quicker than any of the others.

Do you like...type your messages from an abacus or something? I read text messages from drunken friends that are clearer.

Fix'd.

As someone else has stated, it's sunk money. And it would be better to actually wait for more patches/community mods/unofficial fixes to come out before he plays it, and finish the other, shorter games in the meantime.

If you liked FEAR, you'll like FEAR2 as well i'm sure.
As mentioned, it's a quick game. I'm a very slow player and i think it only took me 8 hours.
It'll be over and done with in a hurry, and you can move onto spending copious amounts of time with one of the other games on your list :p

Um, yeah. What?

If they already bought Skyrim, it makes not a hill of beans if they play it now or later. Granted, the "Could have" saved money by purchasing later, but that ship has long since sailed. if you buy the game full price, it's "Value" to you doesn't go down over time unless you never play it.

There is no economics in past tense would have, could have, should have. Once the money is down, that's it.

Wrong. It's much more amusing to make economic analysis based on perceived value/$, potential value lost over time, and hypothetical scenarios with no relation to the real world. Perhaps you never had a project management class?
