Its not Mexican food. It is what we call Tex-Mex- basically Mexican food that is anglicized to be healthier (no lard in everything) and more convenient (rolled into a burrito).

Um? no? Tex-mex is Mexican style recipes replacing the garbage Mexican products not available in the US. Fajitas are Tex-Mex.

Also, if you live in Texas or California, shame on your for even going to Chipotle. There is a cheaper, much better burrito to be had from a taco truck near by.

chipotle is not tex mex. it's cali mex.

tex mex uses lots of lard. lard in tortillas, lard in refried beans, lard in borracho beans, etc. tex mex is also noted for using lots of bright yellow cheese. there's nothing healthy about tex mex.

It seems like the obvious thing to do is sell beans with bacon and also sell beans without bacon for the small minority who prefer them that way..

Don't forget they put about a gallon of fucking disgusting ass sour cream on everything. I ordered some Tex-Mex Enchalidas, I was cutting off a piece with my fork and Sour Cream oozed out everywhere. It was one of the most disgusting things ever.

It's a good place for

1) Cheap food
2) Filling food
3) Not fried/disgusting fast food (McDonalds, etc) yet only slighty above their price
4) Decently tasty, nothing amazing
5) Lots of good protein in a meal.

No one walks in there expecting Mexican food or anything...

This.

It's not cheap. Sure it's filling but that's because they throw on tons of flavorless rice in everything. Ok it's not fried but it definitely doesn't taste better than other fast food. You can get good protein for cheaper.

You don't have to have rice. I get the burrito bowl and no rice. And I also punt the sour cream, corn and guacamole to the curb. It's still filling, cheap and healthy.
Good, sweet and juicy steak.
And yes, it taste better than other fast food. You ripped too many bongs or licked too many postage stamps.

I didn't know penguins had an emperor, I thought they were an autonomous collective.
Considered yourself warned. Next time when you're in 'Rctica, heed to the will of the penguin with the sceptre and crown. Or face the consequences.

no taco trucks near me. :(

when i was in DC, i lived on chipotle, because it was nearby and "okay" mexican food. they still never learned how to roll burritos, but at least the flavor was decent.

seriously. what is so fucking hard about rolling burritos? you put the filling in a line about 1/3 of the tortilla in...roll the short side over, fold in the ends, and roll. done. i swear chipotle needs to send all of their rollers to burrito finishing school in california. 2 week shifts at a local taco shop. maybe they'd finally figure it out.

You guys need to get off the Cali-Mex and Tex-Mex shit. You need New Mexico Mexican food where the focus is on the oh so delicious Green/Red Chiles and not nasty ass cilantro and whatever texas shits on its plate.

Not always. In my part of the Bay Area, there are just mediocre choices for Mexican all around. The only--and I mean ONLY--good choice is, indeed, a truck a block or two from me.

This truck is, indeed, amazing--but it is the only legit choice within 3 towns. It works for me, but most people have to drive a good bit--and they do--to get it. It used to only be around from Thursday-Saturday, though. They wised-up....

I mean this is a good example of why chains are successful. It's not "the best" but you know what you are getting regardless of location. Yea some random Mexican place could be better, but it could also be terribad.
