The other half is seriously questioning why anyone would think China's internet service is something to be envied. On the one hand, their infrastructure is probably pretty good at least in the big cities. On the other hand, their censorship is far more draconian than anything that exists in the US.

It's still important for the US to remain vigilant though; I'm proud of everyone who stood up to SOPA and PIPA a while ago but I'm afraid that similar legislation will eventually make it through no matter what we do. So I'm not taking our internet freedom for granted here, just saying that we have it a lot better than China.

More seriously, it's becoming increasingly difficult for companies to do business inside China because of their internet and especially their firewall. It's not "better" so much as it is more "government controlled".

US is called most free country in the world , but no country has so many prisoners and regulations/laws?

I know, I can't stand facebook and do not use it. But the rest of what China is doing to their internet is damn scary.

The internet in the USA is only a step above 3rd world. I've had way worse in places that barely had running water or sanitation but that's not saying much.
