The Vietnamese really do not like the Chinese and will do anything to marginalize their influence. Up to and including getting over that whole little US-Vietnam war thing. Check out the love letter their ambassador recently penned to the US. http://www.rollcall.com/news/after_2...61-1.html?pg=1 K1052 is online now Report Post

and the hmong and the montagards. there are like the little version of the chinese. still with china trying to circle around india they should do the same to china. a alliance of india vietnam phillipines taiwan south korea thailand japan and the us would be a good pacific block

What Went Wrong with the Pol Pot Regime

say that guy on the newshour one time. thought he looked like he came out of a reptilian comic book. what really worries me is the media guy. you know you can not trust the mainstream media when people like that get involved with politics and international relations. the mass media will often not cover stories that are not deemed in the interest of american government and business interests. like overthrowing latin american countries

The issue here is that if China launches an attack to claim those two islands, those islands both fall under the protection treaty signed between the United States and Japan. Thus, America would be forced to get involved in the dispute. At this current time I don't think this is anything serious, more of a North Korean style threat. There is too much at hand for China to be dumb enough to try and take these islands as their own.

Has no one here read/watched anything about the fighting in the Pacific during WW2? Saying the Japanese were brutal and vicious to the extreme is a massive understatement. This is a country America and to nuke twice to get a surrender.

Any country that engages Japan in open warfare has my pity and condolences.

Exactly. They aren't anywhere close to being able to handle either country individually, let alone combined (in a naval engagement).

Yeh, I suspect there's more than a few American generals and admirals that are sitting in their man caves, chomping on a well regarded stogie, all the while thinking to themselves "go ahead punks.....make my day."
