Yes, the Chinese military budget will be $45 billion in 2007. Meanwhile the US military budget increased from $442 billion in FY2006 to $532 billion (including supplemental for Iraq and Afghanistan).

In other words the US military budget increased by $90 billion, more than double the entire Chinese military budget. No reason to panic just yet guys.

Except of course that their military is over 7 times the size of ours in manpower 😉

Not that they have the ability to exert that force outside of their own borders well.

Nice try. China's military is about 2.3 million people, about twice that of the US, 1.4 million. And their equipment is a joke compared to ours.
I'll make it simple for you: China's military is not a real threat to the United States.

The Chinese wasted so much money in aircraft programs and still cant produce a competitive modern aircraft by themselves. They just came out with a cheap f-16 clone after billions of dollars wasted trying to reverse engineer a f-16.

??
F-16 is the leading aircraft in almost every single nation in the world.

Cloning an F-16 is an impressive task. Especially since China actually compared their cloned F-16 to an actual F-16. They made improvements and added their own tech.

To say their F-16 clone is not competitive against current day F-16s is complete foolishness. If China didn't think their F-16 clone was better than an F-16 then they would have purchased Russian aircraft.

Remind me again... why should this concern me?

Because after the terrorism boogeyman has died down, the nation will need a new scare tactic.
