LOL that's hilarious. I've eaten at Chili a couple of times, and i've never been 'wowed' by their food. Just the quantity.

Every time I've gotten one at Chili's it looks "similar" to the menu picture. Food never looks as good as it does in the menu. But it looked nothing like what is seen in the picture you posted...

And it has always been very good :)

Yeah I've never had one that looks like that. Most of the one's I've had have at least resembled the menu pics.

That looks like they just gave him 'onion petals' (its a side Like fries) instead.

They are still delicious.

A place called Logan's Roadhouse in Manassas, VA serves them like that. They come in a metal bucket and are really good also

Yes, that's my favorite place for ribeyes without going to one of these outrageously priced places.

Yeah, I'm calling shens on them actually ordering or having an Awesome Blossom brought to their table. I've NEVER seen an awesome blossom that resembled anything close to that one. But they do sell the onion petals, which look far more like the photo in the link. Those are good too because most of the work has been done for you. :)

Edit: Also, Chili's always puts the dip in the center of the onion bloom on their awesome blossoms. The fact that the dip is smaller and off to the side, further convinces me that the customer received an order of onion petals.

I've had their "Awesome Blossom" several times, and each time it has looked remarkably like the menu picture, and tasted very good. Nothing like the comparison photo that was posted.

Aye. Logan's make the good, not-uber-expensive, ribeye.

Um, they messed up on that order...having worked there...I don't know why it looks like that.

I spent 3 years working at one and while on average they went out looking like the picture, if it was busy and the fry cook dropped an onion that split in the oil...the end result sometime put shame to even that Consumerist picture. I would seriously be ashamed to serve the damn things.

On a side note...check out the Nutritional Info on that badboy:

Does anyone really finish it on their own? Sometimes I'll order it but I'll maybe only finish about a 1000 calories worth. :p:eek:

from reading the comments, due to the lack of large onions because of drought conditions, they are temporarily using 2 or 3 smaller onions and giving them the same treatment. That is the result.

:rolleyes;

I've never had one look like that, but they don't hold a candle to a Bloomin' Onion from outback taste-wise.
