It looks like Child's Play may break $800,000.00 in donations this year.

From Penny-Arcade.Com.

Wednesday's Child's Play Charity Auction and Dinner was (I believe it is fair to say) ridiculously successful - photographs of the ridiculous success in progress may be discovered here. Powerful winds took out power to the office, making Kiko's update of the official bar difficult - we'll do it as soon as we're able to. But the new total, as of yesterday, now sits at $760,000. That's Earth Dollars, not shells or bottle caps. Yes, that's just this year. My hope is that we will top eight hundred thousand, because the rhetorical payload is simply too potent: Child's Play will have, officially, raised "millions" of dollars. Specifically, you know... two million. I was going to downplay that figure, but then I remembered that it was two million dollars.

Thanks to everyone who donated!

It looks like both Lo Pan and this first charity challenge are laid to rest, but to finish things off I bought these at the same time as the last DS Lite:

3 - "Dance Baby Dance! - Classical Stacker" Fisher-Price; Baby Product; $9.99
1 - "Mario & Luigi Partners In Time" Video Game; $34.82

$64.79 - Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis IN

Thanks, Dave, Evad, and Ameesh.

Giving kids in the hospital a bit of distraction really is a worthwhile cause. It's a scary and unfamiliar place for them and anything, whether it be a video game or book or toy, that takes them out of it for a while has got to be a blessing to them and their families.

That said, there are countless worthy charities out there; it was really your exceptionally generous matching that served to magnify our small contributions and make the opportunity impossible to ignore. So, thank you.

Wow, Amazon.Com is really on the ball. Even though the site initially said the items wouldn't ship until after Christmas, every item I ordered for Children's Mercy Hospital has now shipped. :)

From Penny Arcade.

As of today, Friday, December the 29th, your efforts with Child's Play have amassed $963,160(!!!). This is by no means the final figure, nor is it the final post on the subject - there is still a tremendous amount of tabulation to occur, new checks, community initiatives, last minute rushes, and perhaps even New Year's Epiphanies. I have faith that we will reach a million straight up in donations, and if we do not, I am steeling myself to make a financially debilitating charitable contribution.
