Shame, no one had the balls to stop this crap, every adult there needs a complete ass-kicking for their sub-human behavior..

hey, it reminds me of muslims would do, only that the perps are short little slanted eye guys. What does one expect in a 3rd world nation.

Right in the reddit thread:

The woman with the umbrella says: 小孩子也很可怜. "The child is also very pitiful/pathetic." Which I think in this context means to take pity on the child, ie. not beat him.
Then at the end: 他就是个小孩子. "He's just a child!"
And for those saying he's not white, if he's Uyghur, then that means he's a Turkic mix, technically making him mixed race. Either way, they're doing this not because he's white, but because of the constant threat of thieves, mob mentality, and most importantly, because of what he's not, and that's Han Chinese.
中华民族 = 放屁
EDIT: Seems like maybe this happened in Zhejiang province (East, south of Shanghai) based on the umbrella saying 雁荡山 (or Yandang Mountain, which is in Zhejiang) Or she could've just visited and really loved that umbrella. Attempting to parse this awful dialect into Mandarin.

and

I agree that the treatment is appalling, but we're pretty certain he's a thief. Right the end that man said something along the lines, "That'll teach you not to steal"

So if he did steal, well then that's how it's done over there it looks like.

that's pretty fucked up. i stopped watching after the terrified kid started crying and got kicked again by someone else.

even if the kid did steal, beating him up isn't the way to go about it. that's fucked up. it'd be different if everyone crowded around him and started yelling at him and made him feel like shit until the police came and took him away.

the uyghur (i hate that spelling) are muslim.

only through harsh control will islam be moderated, so sadly the chinese probably do have it right.

On topic:

The kid will be scarred and need therapy. It's hardly a beat down. The whole video had about 2-3 'kicks' that seem to be just frustrated nudges. Physically speaking, he's fine. Emotionally speaking, it's terrible.

I wonder what the story is.

Did you watch the video, it looks like both his hands were pretty damaged, the first hand looks like it had broken fingers.

You really think to someone only 8, this was hardly a beat down?

Japanese is easier to say than Nihonjin for most. And it doesn't require "person" at the end because that is implied.

QFT, what that other poster is basically saying is it's easier to call someone a nig##r, so until that group comes up with something easy for them to say...then they will keep using nig##r.

Most Japanese (wow that was hard to say), don't react publicly to being insulted because the reaction is equally rude to those around them...it's not that they don't mind it. If you are in business expect no more negotiations though once your current affairs have been completed. If you are a customer expect to be turned away, etc.

Seriously?

Jap is short for Japanese. It's commonly used when describing electronics or items that are made in Japan as opposed to Taiwan or China due to the fact that Japanese goods are of much higher quality. So yeah, its normal to qualify something as JAP in front of the item to differentiate it. beloved patriot isn't short for anything. They aren't chinkenese people.

Jap used to have negative meaning especially right after WWII when the servicemen used the term in a derogative manner, however, much like the term "ricer" once meant someone who simply drove an import now means someone who modifies a foreign car, it has changed over time to simply describe something as from Japan. The negativity once associated with the word has fallen off.
Is this how someone explained this to you, or did you arrive at this theory all by yourself? Just curious.

I wonder if the comments here would be the same if it was an illegal Mexican kid trying to mug an old women and it was American's performing street justice.

Trying to mug is a bit different that stealing something petty. Does anyone know the true back story to this?

However, this is america...while our commoners would love to hurt someone, we don't allow it.

I could see it if the woman was injured and the perp had passed puberty, but no, not outside some real backwater place.

From reading here, I would have thought that folks wouldn't have a problem pulling out their gun and shooting the kid if they could get away with it.

What's funny is all the comments saying this child deserved this for stealing...I wonder how many of those have installed pirated software or used bootleg DVD downloads?

Usually the most critical are also the most guilty.

I usually endorse shooting "child" burglars, but at double the age. I'd like to see where anyone on this forum has seriously called for assaulting an ~eight year old thief.
