Chien-Ming Wang is no-hitting the RedSox through 6 innings

This is the second time he'll take a no hitter into the 7th this year. The first was back in May against Seattle.

His pitch count is worrisome, though.

Woohoo....almost an identical game to what Clemens pitched last night.

He's got 87 pitches so far.....Jaba is ready to go today though 🙂

and the way cano has done a number on schilling so far the rest of the yankees line-up could go up to bat with sawed off table legs.

The yankees have been playing well against the Sox, but I still don't think they really have a shot at taking the division, even if they sweep today.

A shot? Sure, they have a shot. Is it likely? Obviously not.

Okay, I meant a realistic opportunity. Outside of this series it seems like they have struggled mightily in close games this year and they have not taken care of business nearly as well as I would have expected versus sub 500 teams

Ahhh, but that was before the Joba experience. 🙂

Yeah, he's been awesome. He certainly has electric stuff, but there is no way he'll remain as lights-out as he's been. If you're a yankees fan you also have to hope that Torre doesn't ride him into the ground during this season and the next.

I honestly dont' get the Yankees. Or the Red Sox for that matter. I'm a huge Sox fan, so I'll get that out there, but both of these teams confuse me. The sox are a machine this year. They just grind out wins over long enough period of time to have a good winning percentage. There isn't much excitement though. Few late-game rallies, few bullpen blowups, etc.

The Yankees, on the other hand, went from being absolutely awful to the best team in baseball following the All-Star break. Then they get iced by Detriot. Now they rock the Red Sox.

I don't get it 😕

Lowell is the man. I'm wearing his t-shirt jersey right now. Are bats died this series. We still have six more outs, it's not over yet.

Torre can't do it this year, not yet anyway. There are set rules about using him which Torre cannot cross. He gets a day off for every inning pitched. It may change, but that's the deal now. The Yankees still say they want him in the starting rotation next season. We shall see.

As you know, that's baseball. Every team, no matter how talented will be hot and cold. It's very rare that a team just plows through the entire season without hitting rough stretches. THe difference is WHEN you hit it. 🙂

Actually, I read some pretty cool analysis of good baseball teams. Basically, the guys who did the experiment tried to see if there were long stretches in which 'good' teams (teams that made the WS) had long periods where they play .500 ball. Surprisingly, they do. Most teams play .500 ball most of the season and have one or two really hot streaks that boost their winning percentage. It's true of the Sox and Yankees this year, true of the Tigers last year, true of the '04 Sox too.

Quick...name all the players who have hit 2 HR's in a game against Schilling.

Yankees will crash and burn this September. Every break has gone their way and that can't last forever.

Every break has gone their way? Did you miss the first half of the season?

I still stand by my first statement.

They may indeed crash and burn. But that has nothing to do with breaks going their way. The first half of the season they couldn't catch a break.
