that's not an accurate characterisation of P&N or AT in general.

Really? That's the absolutely best characterisation of P&N I've ever seen. Hit the nail right on the head.

The less meat you eat, the more there is for the rest of us, so, <shrug> whatever.

the more you eat meat, the fatter, more unhealthy, impotent, ugly & diseased you get - so <shrug> whatever. :)

I'm sorry, I was trying to help.. Fine...but remember, 99.5% of this forum is neither interested in your propoganda, nor your opinions in general, so have fun barking at a wall.

Commence with "lalalalalala!"

I hope your children enjoy birth defects and lower than average brain masses.

actually, their more likely to enjoy entended lifespans and a lifetime of bountiful health & well-being.

Kids should eat a slight amount of meat as children to allow their brain to mature and grow. The B6 and B12 in meat allows for a healthier growth of nerves and syanpses at a young age. The protein, glucosamine, and fat also allows for a more healthy growth of muscle, bone, and skin cells. But organic, non-grain fed animals are best. Open sea fish is good if ina non-polluted environment. As they grow older and require less of this, it is healthier to start limiting meat (I am not sure about no meat) and calories. Because as was stated about. Limiting meat and calories does prolong life as you get older.

But forcing your child, especially at a very young age, to be vegan could be a form of child abuse, IMHO. You could seriously hurt there potential by limiting there nutrition like that.

I see people's opinions change over time on P&N. I've seen conservatives move to the left on social issues like gay marriage. I've seen Bush voters become Democrat voters. I've seen plenty of in depth discussion on all sorts of issues. And name calling is pretty rare on P&N, actually. Tempers flare occasionally, but that's to be expected when you have people discussing things they are passionate about.

Are you?

No. Which is why I consult my nutritionist for advice on a heathy vegan diet. :)

I can say that the only child I know who has been raised as vegetarian from birth is developing much, much more slowly than normal. He's over two years old and has a vocabulary of four words. He also did not walk until well after he was one year old.

The KFC around here lost it's lease. It was the only one close that still served potato wedges :( Now I have to go to the one that's coupled with an A&W :)

Extra crispy rocks!

I have a friend who is vegan, and his kid is "vegan". His kid is healthy, he is only two right now, but the difference is, he is still breast-fed, so he still gets nutrients that aren't in many plants. The mother isn't vegan. I have another friend whose kid is vegan and was taken off breast feeding after his first year, and is not developing as fast as other kids. He is healthy, just not as strong or active as the other kids which is bad for his mental development added to the fact that he isn't getting the neccessary nutrients to develop quicker.

And to aidanjm, I know plenty of nutritionist, and they would recommend the same thing I just said, unless they are hardheaded and will not allow your kid to have any meat. BTW, my father is a PHD is Biochimistry and Pharmacology, plus he does homeopathic medicine & nutrition now. Before going into the Computer field, in highschool and college, I worked in the biotech industry. And I eat quite healthy as well. I know personally at least three Nutritionists because I worked in the biotech industry and the PT industry before college. Plus, eating is basically common sense. To be honest, you don't have to ask someone to know that too little or too much of one thing is bad for you.

If humans were made to eat vegatables only, then we would have evolved only molars instead of incisors and canines.

Bwhahahaha...

Meat does not make you fat, eating too many calories does.

Meat is not unhealthy, an unbalanced diet is.

Meat does not make you impotent.

Meat does not make you ugly.. LOL.. WTF?

Meat does not make you diseased, an unbalanced diet does.

LOL
