Chickens in the house...as pets?

My roommate is seriously talking about getting chickens and keeping them IN the house. She owns the house we live in, but am I the only person who finds this ridiculous?

We also have a big ol' dog (half Lab, half Chow). Well the dog eat the chickens?

Basically I really don't want fvckin' chickens in the house and I need a few good arguments against it (aside from it being utterly ridiculous!).

Will they damage/sh!t on everything?

Thanks

Chickens will set off most dog's instincts to hunt... does it get along with cats?

Yes, they will damage everything... Chickens are some of the dumbest animals on earth.

Chickens are the dumbest and most dirty foul animal on the planet (Turkeys too...) so why would anyone in their right mind want them in the house? Your roomate is a nutcase.

This thread brings to mind the scene where Napoleon smells his hand and wretches after handling the chickens.

I am sorry, but I couldn't help but reply to this.

Ask myjaja. Apparently, he had a pet chicken in his house, and it destroyed his sisters laptop.

Very tempting. I don't have a problem with killing them either.

Dunno about cats, but he chases squirrels and birds in the back yard.

Your roomate is a nutcase.
I'm not arguing.

Great. I'll have to move everything I own into my room and keep the door closed.

A rooster maybe, but definitely not chickens. Even then, the people we knew who had a rooster didn't let it IN the house, it just stayed outside the whole time. They're pretty funny animals if you have the outdoor space for them.

We have a big backyard, but she has a garden back there and half of the yard is enclosed by a 6 ft fence, the other half by a 4 ft fence. I expect them to jump the fence and be gone.

I would say no -- especially considering the threat of an avian flu outbreak in the near future.

I had a great uncle that had a bantum rooster in the house as a pet. It was house trained and would walk on a leash.

Also my grandfather had a lot of chickens and the dogs didn't bother them.
