My roommate is seriously talking about getting chickens and keeping them IN the house. She owns the house we live in, but am I the only person who finds this ridiculous?

We also have a big ol' dog (half Lab, half Chow). Well the dog eat the chickens?

Basically I really don't want fvckin' chickens in the house and I need a few good arguments against it (aside from it being utterly ridiculous!).

Will they damage/sh!t on everything?

Thanks

Most people who care for chickens are of the opinion that they deserve to be eaten.

one more post on this. Our network manager at work got a rooster a few years ago. THey kept it in the backyard and like most roosters attack anything that comes in his territory. when that thing got about a year old he couldnt go in the backyard without a broom to swat it away. He doesnt have it anymore, i dunno what happend to it but i dont think he ate it, his kids would have disowned him if he did.

bird flu!

That's one really good reason of not getting to close to birds. Although none of the bird flu cases was found in the US but almost all the bird flu cases in asia were pass from chicken to human.

If by pressed duck you mean Hunan Duck, then yes.

Best way to keep her from getting one... chickens are classified as livestock in many localities, and many zoning laws prohibit livestock in residential areas.

Get a pet python. I'm not sure what the math is, but it goes something like:

python + chickens = python

An old girlfriend of mine in Sweden grew up on a farm. They had some chickens.
I spent a coupld of summers living there, and trust me, the last thing you want is chickens in your house.
They are loud and annoying! None of you will sleep well. Trust me.

chickens can be great pets. you can teach them to use litter boxes, my dad did it. you can also train them to like to be held and pretty much follow commands. but it takes time, and you have to start really early.

train it to be an attack chicken.
