My wife is finally getting on my side about eating healthier, which will make it even easier for me. Right now she did most meals with beef and will now be switching to chicken and turkey. The issue is now she wants recipes that are simple and good for both of us. So I am asking if you guys/gals could send me your favs! Thanks in advance.😉

Edit: No mushrooms please, they dont like me if you know what I mean.

Ground chicken and ground turkey can be put in all the same dishes as beef so that's a pretty easy switch. With everything else, I suggest googling some Paleo meal recipes. Some of them are pretty awesome.

I'm on the same diet, chicken and turkey, but it's just bland. Well, it's not a pure chicken and turkey diet. I still eat carbs but my carbs come from wheat bread and cereal. Sometimes it's so bland that I just have to add unhealthy stuff to it like chips. Yummm chips... hah

Turkey sandwitches are the best though. They seriously are! As for the chicken, I just buy seasoning and grill it on a George foreman grill.

I normally cook my chicken in a skillet with a little butter, salt and pepper both sides and it taste great. Thrown in some dark/mixed rice and veggies and all done.

Sometimes I'll cook the chicken and shred it(pulled chicken kind of) and throw it in with mixed veggies, black beans, rotel tomatoes(or salsa) and eat that plain or on top of rice or with bread. It's pretty damn good and it's easy to make and reheat throughout the week.

pizza with crust made out of chicken is damn good as well, it might seem a little weird but there is a recipe out there somewhere it's pretty simple basically puree chicken in a food processor and put it in the oven until it's cooked then throw on toppings and broil until the cheese is melted. Google might help find the actual recipe, I think I got it off sherdog initially.

Ive seen that before but my wife said she wont even try it just at the thought of chicken ground up like that.

I told her just to try this but she wants all new things I guess. I know I can google stuff all day but I was hoping to get some things that people have already tried and know are good.

Is it just me or does ground turkey have some sort of "grittiness" to it? Every time I get ground turkey I feel like there's some little tiny small pieces of bone or something ground in there.

ground turkey can be decent, I made some turkey meatballs last week. They weren't quite as tender as beef & pork ones. But they has a good taste to them, and when I added some BBQ sauce I don't think somebody would have noticed they weren't beef. I do not like ground chicken, but chicken breasts marinated overnight and grilled are pretty good. With Turkey, depending on the fat %, it could end up not being much if any better than ground beef though.

After eating ground turkey over beef for long enough you'll tend to forget that beef tastes better. My mom had been turkey only for a few years. She was saying "oh turkey burgers are every bit as good as beef ones" one day while I was eating a hamburger, she ended up taking a bite. The look on her face and UMMMM sound she made said it all lol.

One recipe I like to make, I brown sound ground turkey then add some tomato sauce and spices too it. Cook some elbow macaroni & put both in a oven safe dish, then put some cheese on top and bake it in the oven. Simple to make and with the cheese + tomato + spices it would be almost impossible to notice it wasn't made with beef. I use whole wheat pasta so it's a bit healthier. Turkey Meatballs with a bit of bread crumbs and spices mixed in are good too and make a nice Meatball sub.

Quite frankly, turkey can not replace beef. A 50/50 mix of turkey/beef at best is OK. Having said that doing a mix of 66/33 in favor of beef is much better. I use beef that is 85% lean. Warning. Do not use 93% lean. It tastes like crap. Basically, any recipe that calls for ground beeef can use a 50/50 turkey/beef mix.

These are heaven!

I've done them in a 50/50 turkey/beef mix. Works nice. Note that these are not for meatballs and spaghetti but they are meant more for an appetizer. I eat them alone as a meal though. When i do low carb, high protein, I'll have these 4 nights a week. Make 3 pounds worth. Freeze as needed.

Same story with this. Pretty damned good meatloaf!

For veggies, I find a red and green pepper to be options to combine with onion. Red pepper works well with this recipe. I've done this in the 33/66 mix in favor of beef. Tastes yummy. 50/50 should work. Cliffs on this: Follow recipe! Adjust so that it takes 2 pounds beef, 1 pound turkey. I use a small yellow onion, a green pepper and a red pepper. All veggies are finely diced. Mix together. This is awesome! And provides leftover style meals! Have with mashed potatoes and green beans. Awesome!

Basically, I found that cutting any normal ground beef based recipe with 50% turkey tends to work. Pure turkey recipes always have tasted like crap to me.

Alsol, chicken breast. Awesome meal. Have with veggies. make 3 pounds in one shot. Then use leftover in chicken salads for lunch.

For chicken the easy way. Take a glass dish (oven safe). Toss the chicken (3 boneless skinless chicken breasts) in the dish. add a little water. Cover with a 16 oz can of tomatoes. Toss in oven at 350 for an hour. You can not over cook these really thanks to the water. Take out. Add salt to taste. Add some greens to the side. Done.

FWIW:
Not carb friendly. But I do this once in a blue moon. Take a sweet potato cooked and diced it. Mash some potatoes. Mix these together. Add a can of corn for more sweetness. Mix in a bit of butter. And you have some tasty smashed potatoes. EASY!

Oh, snacks .....

Learn about lower carb trail mixes. Buy ingrediants individually. And make. theoils in trail mix can quickly make you feel full. Helps out alot.

I add things like Pepitas, soy nuts, mixed nuts (mostly almonds). Toss in some Craisins and raisins (minimal) for sweetness. I buy ingredients separately and make big batches. When hungry, I just grab a few pinches and feel great. I can get a full list of stuff upon request.
