Chicago - high school forfeits baseball game on South Side over drive-by fears

Overkill and reasonable fear. Depends on mood and actions of criminals, meaning, you can never tell. Not going is BS though.

Absolutely reasonable fear for anyone that's been on the South Side after dark (which presumably this game would have eventually been).

Ok, a lot of parts of the SS are bad (I live in the southern most part of the area), but, many are not that bad. Plus, anyone with a brain packs anyways. Really the only fear is being mass mobbed (can't really defend against that) or a driveby. Neither super likely (possible yes, but not likely). Not going though was a p*ssy move. Way to set an example for your kids...

I thought that Chicago had strict gun laws? Aren't these laws supposed to prevent these drive-by shootings from happening?

Are you a parent?

Good lord man if there's a reasonable chance your kid will be shot and perhaps killed over a freaking baseball game he doesn't go. That's a no-brainer.

Not a parent. If was my kids would be going, as well as I, carrying; EDIT: They'd be going to play ball, and I'd be carrying. There wasn't a reasonable chance here. Not to say there wasn't no chance, but, I wouldn't say there was a reasonable chance.

Cool you would be packing, after your kid gets shot you can shoot back,

cheers

It's a freakin' baseball game! Does any reasonable parent expect gunfire at one? If so, does any reasonable parent continue to live in that situation?

Not when the thugs can go to your state and have cocksuckers sell them anything from the back of a truck and they can drive back and kill these innocent kids. You must be so proud to know your state is contributing to the carnage and suffering of Americans in another state. Here you are, smug in your attitude that Chicago is drowning in a sea of guns from Virginia and elsewhere and their gun laws can do nothing about it. You must be so proud, asshole.

I know I know. States rights and 2nd Amendment and all that🙄

Yup, blame everyone except for the actual perpetrator.

I blame those who make it easier. What's disgusting is, upon seeing the carnage on the news, they have the galls to criticize those that are doing their best, legally, to stop the violence.

I blame those who think they can fix a society by passing laws.

That's right, blame your uncivilized ghetto thugs on Virginia gun laws. No wonder you pussies run away from basketball games.

Anyone with a brain packs?!? How about anyone with a brain doesn't put themselves in that situation to begin with.

But wait... I thought that if everyone was just armed there would be no gun violence? Anywhere, including Chicago. Must be confusing to live in and around the Chicago area....

There is a shooting every 6 hrs in Chicago, not really overblown fears.

Also has strong gun control, go figure ;D

Unlike the "good" people of Virginia, the thugs don't hide behind laws when it comes to discussing the immorality of their actions. THey freely admit to who they are. The sellers, though, are extremely smug because the violence is happening in another world. In another place with people they can do not relate to. The pain and suffering are not theirs to worry about, only dirty cash handed to them by the very customers you look down upon...

I carry OV... know quite a few people that do, not all of which are crime free saints. It's not that hard to figure out that if you walk up behind someone and put a bullet in their head no amount of carrying will combat that. It's also not that hard to figure out that if your kids go to a high school in Chicago where they have to worry about getting shot up during an outdoor baseball game that perhaps it's either time to MOVE or ARM the team. Which would be more effective? Sorry but arming every resident of Chicago won't make crime rates go down. The crime, drugs, illegal guns were there before and will be there long after.
