^ That's where the alcohol comes in... not saying it's legal, or moral, but a sufficient amount of alcohol will make people amenable to lots of things, or just too out of it to say no. Again, not legal or moral... may be even rapey, but at the same time, for many the alcohol is about lowering inhibitions. It's all about what situation you put yourself into.

It's called a social lubricant for a reason. And it's fine when used that way. But I'm just talking about a couple drinks to calm the nerves, not getting really drunk and doing something someone regrets the next day.

Spend a lot of money up front to cut yourself off from society and have some slightly lower monthly costs? Then also have money set aside for hobbies? Seems like a pretty weird way to go about things, like mining crypto for $1000 of electricity right now instead of just buying $1000 of coins outright...

Yeah, guess that's been sorted out now (so he's not asexual at all, just only attracted to very specific traits in women I guess?).
Asexuals aren't specifically people who don't have sex, they're people who don't experience sexual attraction (and some of them do enjoy sex, but many of them are repulsed by the whole idea of it)

It's about self sufficiency. Right now if I lose my job I basically lose everything. If I'm self sufficient that won't be the case. Also less affected by globalist stuff going on, prices of everything going up etc. Especially once I get into growing my own food. Going to be a rather easygoing stress free life where I have more time to spend working for myself instead of a big corporation.

I don't want to have to work for the rest of my life.

You don't want to work for the rest of your life but you're going to grow most or all of your own food? You do realize how much work it is to be a subsistence farmer, right? People have fled from that life in droves to work in sweatshops because it sucks so much.

Yeah, growing enough food to live off is going to be a massive ballache! Growing enough to live off and not be on an extremely boring diet would probably be impossible for one person in that climate.

The previously-mentioned-in-another thread middle school obsessive who cold called me and tried to do phone sex and then tried to arrange for actual sex, I'm glad I didn't make contact.
 
TBH food would be the hardest part when it comes to self sufficiency, so that would probably be the last thing to work on. I'd still go to the groceries for the most part until I start to dive deeper into gardening/raising animals. The main idea of living off grid is being self sufficient financially, energy wise etc and overall just having more for my money. 40 acres in the forest where I can do/build what I want vs a tiny lot in town. It's win win. Less costs of living mean no need for a full time job anymore. In the city there are way too many ongoing costs like high property taxes that I have to keep working just to keep up, and those costs keep going up every year. Off grid I would eliminate most of those costs and could get away with some kind of side gig of sorts for a small amount of income, without needing to be tied to a full time job. With more time on my hands then I'd eventually focus on food too. Start with basics like vegetables and maybe chickens at first.

This is more of a long term goal. I just know that I want to retire at a decent age and with the constant costs of living going up I won't be able to if I stay in the city unless I downsize. I rather upsize, just off grid. Get more, for less.
 
Even once I have a door I don't think they'll deliver that far lol. Here we have Skip The Dishes, but same idea. I'd probably be eating lot of store bought food until I figure my stuff out. Won't happen overnight. Even then, I will probably still buy food to have variety, but I do want to be in a position where if SHTF I am growing all the right things to survive off of if I really have to. But end goal is not to be 100% self sufficient, just in a state where I can be.

Here in the city I tend to over indulge on take-out because it's convenient but that would change. I'd still get my fix when I go to town to see family or friends etc. It's not like I plan to be isolated 100%. My main reason for wanting to do it is to slash my ongoing costs of living while also having a really nice place to live and enjoy. It's nice being in nature. Why go on a vacation, when I can create my own permanent vacation destination. My total cost of living is going to be a couple hundred a month out there too, vs a couple thousand now. Just way less ongoing bills. Starlink would probably be my biggest expense if I go that route for internet.
