Well today I thought I would test my system to see how to lights n stuff work.

DFI NF4 ULTRA-D
Winchester 3000+
x800xl saphire
Fortron Blue storm

I plugged in some crap pc2700 ram from my old comp into the new mobo i also plugged in a crappy 20 gig hardrive connected everything. Turned on the Comp, The fans and zalman cooler started working.

My cd drive would not open, My screen stayed blank like it was in standby.

Is this a critical problem? maybe my mobo won't post because of the ram?

Oh god I hope I didn't break anything.

EDIT: It is abel to post but when i try to save anything in bios it will not startup after..

tried clearing cmos and removing battery...

waiting for new ram and harddrive to install windows xp and flash bios...

Your mobo's mounted on standoffs, right? standoffs look like this 🙂

Also, check the PSU to ensure it's set for the right input voltage (115 volts or 230 volts depending where you live), make sure the keyboard's in the purple port and not the green port (green's for mice only), and ensure that the springy finger things on the rear I/O shield aren't getting into the network jack or USB ports.

If you have front-USB-port wiring plugged into the mobo's headers, unplug it. MSI has some goofed-up pinouts on some of their models.

Good luck 🙂

yes it is on standoffs.

I ALSO HAVE SEEN SOMETHING A BIT STRANGE ON MY BOARD!

the black square thingies labeled with R60 seem to have some kind of very dark dark black smudges of some sort on them?

When I touch it it feels as if it were burnt? but the first time i noticed this was when i was cleaning dust out of my computer case for the first time, when i just got my parts..

maybe it has nothing to do with it at all?

Good News, Today this morning I put in 2 sticks of ram in the orange slots in my DFI board and something actually happened.

It gave me continuous beeps not one afterr another but a beep then a pause and a beep then a pause

atleast my motherboard is alive :S

Anyways still no post, blank screen

Also is it bad to post without a harddrive? Thats what im doing.

Yesterday my cd drive would not open and all of the sudden it started working today weird..

maybe my cpu is blown up?

IT can't be though its hot to the touch. If that means anything at all...

Lets hope I didn't fry or break my x800xl or something.

Anymore comments/suggestions?

its such a letdown to wait so long for a new system just to have it take hours and hours of your time trying to get it to post 🙁

same problem wiht mine. leave the memory in that slot.

now take the power plug out of the PSU(from the wall) and let the LEDs lose their light. then clear Cmos for about a minute. hold down the insert button on your keybaord. move cmos back to run. then plug in psu. then while still holding insert push the power button

😵 whoa my computer came to life O.O

IT POSTED YAYYY!!!

but then it has a cmos checksum error at the first page of the bios post -.-

and everytime it restart it has that. Also my zalman cpu cooler stops spinning when it goes into post

i just gotta wait for my harddrive now.. -.-

it freezes on the second post screen...

maybe its because i have no hard drive

Also, sometimes when i reboot a screen comes up with the words X800xl

in the top left and thats it.

yeah that was my problem to. a BIOS checksum error. and if you have a speaker it will beep like crazy for a floppy drive.

try holding the insert button and push the reset button.

see your mobo will work eventually. a hard drive wont fix it. but we gotta get ya into BIOS🙁
