I don't know why people think it's funny that their pest kills all the indigenous species of animals in the area.
If someone's pest cat came into my yard and started killing off the hummingbirds and other critters that run around, the cat would be next.</blockquote>

The fact that there are no longer natural preditors for the bird populations in urban and suburban areas, cats are needed to keep the bird and rodent populations in check.
Birds are in no more danger of going extinct than rats and mice... and are just as annoying.
