its a little better now... though i didn't do much other than use last year's monthly totals to project the rest of this year.

Nice chart.:) Are you going to give her a pep talk to try to get her to reach her projected performance?

I updated for August. We went on vacation for 11 days, and the house sitter kept her inside most of that time. So her August production is a bit lower than it probably would have been if we had been home. I found a couple of really decomposed critters (1 large rabbit and 1 chipmunk) that were probably from that time period, but I counted them for Sept since that is when I found them.

Also, I found a clutch of bunnies in the back yard so I'm guessing she'll find them in a few days when they start coming out of their nest.

ok, this is why I don't let that stray cat into my house...

catching and eating mice? um...no. what kind of disease is the cat carrying with it?

I think it's time to call the shelter...

My daughter's new cat caught a Jerusalem cricket recently. It was the first time I've seen one of these nasty-looking critters in real life. It scared the crap out of my wife when the cat dropped it at her feet because she was expecting a mouse. You all should've heard the squeal she let out. :D

Your cat will always kill more than mine. Mine is an indoor cat and has no interest in going outside at all. You can stand there with the door open and she won't even stick her head out. Must be because we got her from the Humane Society as a stray kitten; she must have had enough outdoor living. She loves the windows though.

and to think, this is just what you find out about... domestic cats are terrible for songbird populations</blockquote>

2nd that.

I don't know why people think it's funny that their pest kills all the indigenous species of animals in the area.

If someone's pest cat came into my yard and started killing off the hummingbirds and other critters that run around, the cat would be next.</blockquote>

Good lord.

The fact that there are no longer natural preditors for the bird populations in urban and suburban areas, cats are needed to keep the bird and rodent populations in check.

Birds are in no more danger of going extinct than rats and mice... and are just as annoying.

not entirely true. Many native bird species are having a hard time competing with house sparrows and the like. House cats are bad-ass hunters and it can make a dent.
