safer than a map?

Read much?

Of course a map will get you there, just as they always have. As for the safety issue, I don't see how that is even a debate. A nav system not only gives you precise step-by-step directions, but there's no fumbling with a map.

I guess your map can reroute a new route at a touch of a button if there's a road block, traffic jam or an accident? Or how about showing you where the nearest bank, atm, gas station or store is in a unfamiliar area? And can your map make people say "Wow, that thing is sweet"?:D

probably the lead sales point :)

I never said it was worth the cost... that's a different issue. Arguing about the obvious superiority of a nav system in most cases is the issue here.

well i suppose if you lack the ability to read a map correctly and accurately than yes the nav system is superior.

yes. free or $3 map sounds a lot better to me than spending 1800 bucks that does that same thing.

If you think a full-fledged nav system doesn't work better than a map, you have never used a nav system. They are superior in just about every way... safety, usability, accuracy, etc.

they are also quite superior in price as well.... i mean they are only 30,000% more expensive. I'll take a map thank you very much.

I agree that a paper map wins when it comes to price/benefit ratios... just don't try and argue that a paper map is more accurate or more safe.

dont try to argue that it is simply one more product designed to sell a technology.
im sure for some people a nav system offers some security and to many others it is a toy to be bragged about, but its real world application is no better or worse than a map when the user of it is taken into account
