Really? What the heck am I doing wrong? I average 23 mpg with my 04 TL. It's an auto, but that shouldn't make that much of a difference.

My vehicle is part of who I am. To me, thats more important than money. I just drive a bit less and my next apartment was chosen because it'll be 5 miles from work. If gas price becomes more of a concern, I'll get a decent motor cycle. Granted, the bike will probably get the same mileage as your tin can, but at least I won't look like a tool. Low smug emissions too.

They can have my Jeep when they pry it from my cold dead hands.

edit: nm

Anyone get the number of that thread. Sonofabitch almost took my head off

I'ts when, where and how you drive. I like to leave early for work when the traffic and lights are favorable. I stopped using I95 and use surface streets. I Accelerate smoothly keeping the revs below 2,000. I also try and coast up to traffic waiting at a light so that I'm still moving a little when the car ahead starts to move. This keeps bearing friction to a minimum.

Seeing how a Honda Civid gets 40 mpg, I don't see the point in getting something "fuel efficient" that does any less than 40 mpg.

If ones car gets 25 mpg now and they upgrade to 35 mpg, that will save about 40% on fuel. But 40 mpg is a 60% improvement.

Due to the new EPA MPG regulations, rated MPG is much lower now. The Honda Civic is no longer rated for 40 on the highway.

There are very few if any non hybrid cars sold in the US that are rated with the EPAs new MPG system 40+.

Edit: On further review, I cannot locate any 2008 non hybrid cars sold in the USA that are rated 38+ MPG on the highway.

I'll pay the gas and stretch out in my Crown Victoria. I couldn't fit in an Econobox. My other car gets 7 miles per gallon.

I don't get it... this isn't even a WTF-no-way type of thread... what's the point of it?

Man....people are not very observant.

does your car have a sun roof? it *definitely* needs a sun roof. :D

Neither of my vehicles have a sun roof. It would have been nice on the Maxima, but when I bought it I couldn't be too picky.

A sunroof on the Xterra would be pretty much useless.
