So whoever felt the need to email the seller and leave some not-nice comments... you're a tool and should not reproduce. I can't even phantom the rationality or thought process required to do something like that... but anyway, just please, please don't have kids.

Wicked nice...it'd be hard to find a deal like that unless you're local though, or willing to drive a ways. To save a few grand though I suppose that it'd be worth a few hours drive :)

The initial story I got from the seller was that it needs the Y drive board (the thing that powers the horizontal electrodes). The guy gota $920 estimate to repair it.

Anyway when I go the tv home, I went online and bought a pdf of the oem service manual to get more info on the led codes - the tv would turn on, shut off in a second and blink the LED 3x till you turned it off.

Well as it turned out, 3 led pulses was a "temp over treshold / shutdown" code (ambient temperature inside over 77deg celsius or something like that). Well that didn't really add up, because even my toasted can't heat up that quick. So I popped the thing open to check the 3 temp sensor boards inside, thinking one or more was fried. Instead of that, I found one with a disconnected harness... plugged it back in and viola :)

edit:
I wonder, though, if the plasma repair place was after the guys money....or just completly clueless.

Halik - Who sells PDF's of plasma service manuals online? Did you go through this research before you bought it? Did you feel there was any risk? What would you have done if it really did need a $920 repair?

I think you should give a glowing positive feedback for the seller for being so honest in his description.

I actually had a contact for the part the estimate said it needs... $460 with exchange. In any case, $425 isn't really a lot of money to risk anyway.
