While that is cool that you got a killer deal on that TV since you were able to fix it, what isn't good is the fact that you paid for a PDF file of the service manual. IIRC it's illegal to be charged for service manuals like that. Something to do with copyright laws etc. The only way they could charge you is if it was printed matter or they were the original distributer of the manual. FYI you probably could have found that PDF manual with a little searching online.

I am willing to shave my legs and wear lipstick for you, though I must admit, I am no longer of child bearing age (and male). ;):p

So you bought a broken TV, fixed it with a simple fix, and some jerk emailed the seller? I don't see a problem with this. If you couldn't fix it, well, you lose. Seller accepted cash for his broken tv (which at the time, was broken) and the deal is done. If he wants it back, too bad, he transfered ownership to you.

lemme guess, somebody emailed the seller?

So what? Seller can't do jack, it's not like Halik ripped him off

We all know the seller can't do jack, but sending something akin to a "Haha" to the seller is sorta low.

Sadly, I knew this would happen.

That's not the issue, I don't really care if he knows. The emails he got were insulting / condescending. Basically someone just wrote something a la "ha ha you're an idiot" . That's absoutely unacceptable and uncalled for; the guy was really nice and helpful to me.

I've already send out an apology and explanation for this whole thing.

i'm sure the ebay seller knows he/she can't do anything about it. but, no want would want to hear what the ebay seller apparent found out. it's in very bad taste to rub someone's face in it.

whoever did that is quite the loser. nice job :|

edit: and after reading halik's post above about the tone of the email, the person who sent it out is complete jackass.

can't the original ebay seller tell you the emailer's ebay ID?

Where are you getting this information? You are saying it's illegal to be charged for service manuals, on what grounds? A. It's a copyright violation or B. If printed material is in PDF (electronic) form, it's free and thus cannot be profited from? It seems like you believe B. Then you go on to suggest he do "a little searching" and find it for free. HA!

What exactly happened? Someone e-mailed the seller and the seller is demanding it back?

We think alike. I did the same search. My buddy owns a TV & Appliance store. I am going to ask him what they do with broken/dropped TV's and see if he knows a cheap way to get them replaced.

You think alike? You mean you and DeviousTrap simultaenous had the genius idea of searching ebay for broken plasmas after halik posted this thread? Genius!
