I have been out of the computer loop for a while, done some reading but wanted to get some opinions from experienced users.

RAM
Motherboard
CPU

Are these all good/compatible buys? Is there somewhere i could improve? Thanks for any input

Those will work together. Are you upgrading your current system or building all new?

If upgrading you will also need a new PCI-E video card, the AGP card in your current rig won't work with that setup.

If your building new I would suggest considering an Intel core 2 duo setup, I have always been a huge AMD fan but they just can't currently compete with the C2D. And the E4300 can be had for just over $150

There are also a few boards that will allow you to reuse your DDR ram and AGP video card if your upgrading

yeah sorry the rig i have there is old, i need to delete it... i sold it to a friend. I personally would like to stay with AMD since im familiar with clock speeds and voltages etc.. just feels like home to me and don't want to screw around with an intel system, regaurdless of increased performance or not.

I have all the other parts i need to complete the system but i knew those were compatible and didn't need to ask (video card/cd rom/case etc)

In that case, that will be a very nice rig and will overclock nicely if you choose to.

I built my wife a rig with the X2 3800+ a couple of months ago and she loves it, and for normal day to day stuff and gaming I really can't tell the difference in hers and my new C2D rig.
