I have asked before but never got a chance go to a doctor. Now my insurance is expired and I need to figure out how to get a cyst removed for as cheap as possible. This is on the scalp. Also, what kind of scarring should I expect?

Scarring should be minimal.

I have multiple Cyst's removed over the years. If you have a GP doctor I would visit them and ask about making a deal ahead of time on cost if they are willing to do it without insurance.

Try to find a doctor who will work with you. I definitely would NOT suggest self-surgery. Some local low-cost clinics can do things like this easily and cheaply.

The cheapest cyst removal might be to smash it and break it apart yourself. So long as it remains in liquid form, it is like a big pimple under the skin.

As a child, my brother had a cyst developing on the back of his wrist. My father laid my brothers arm and wrist flat on the countertop, and put a hard-cover book over the cyst. Then my father swung his arm and slammed his fist down on top the book. He did this a few times to ensure the cyst membrane was ruptured. Then the book was removed and my father used his thumbs to further rupture the membrane and spread the fluids through the surrounding tissue.

No surgery or cutting of the skin was involved. It took a few days or two weeks, I do not remember how long, for the fluids and cyst to disappear. The cyst did not return.

My father is a doctor.

That must have felt awesome.

I don't know if what I had was a cyst, but there was a huge pimple like thing in my inner thigh that would just not pop after sqeezing it for days. Finally, I burned a sewing needle red hot on top of the stove, cooled it down with rubbing alcohol and punctured that bastard.

A few days later, my leg was normal and not even a scar.

We refer to interventions like this as a joke in our program. Don't. Ever. Do. This. Considering you don't have any diagnostic tools to ensure this is a cyst that is just filled with lymph or pus or something, you could be rupturing some terrible things. For example, an encapsulated colony of bacteria that the body is handling. You rupture it, it goes into your blood stream, you get septicemia and now you have a life threatening condition. Same thing could be said for metastasizing cancer, if you want to be that dramatic. Don't be a tool. This is not an option nowadays. Spend less than $100, have it removed by a professional, don't wind up dead.

I have no idea of where I can get the cyst removed for $100. Any advice?

A general physician and probably dermatologist can do it in their office, but not sure on cost. Depending on your insurance it can be just the cost of the co-pay.

I had a cyst removed from my upper back earlier this year that was inflamed. It's important to get all of it out, otherwise you risk having it come back... and properly following up with packing and dressing the wound (multiple times, depending on how deep the cyst was) is just as important. Even with a few shots of lidocaine, it hurt, and after it wore off I was in agony until I got some Tramadol.

If your cyst is intact, not painful to the touch, and not red, it's probably OK to leave it until you can get it properly removed. But if it manages to rupture you'll need a doctor to take care of it ASAP. I had mine for many years until one day while snowboarding I fell on my back and I think it ruptured a little - it was painful when pushing on it and constantly red.

Once i had something similar on my neck, i used hot compress and popped it like 20 times with lots of blood and pus coming out. It was the size of a nickle? and about 1/2" tall, finally 4 months later (of it not going away) i cut it open with a razor blade and dug inside with tweezers randomly, finally i pulled out a hairball like thing and it all went away a week later. Of course the scar on my neck wasnt optimal but im pretty sure it would have gone down teh same with 1000$ medical bill. I highly doubt you can get any procedure done for 100$ (UNLESS YOU GO TO A CLINIC THAT DOES SOME KINDA LOW INCOME RATE). How much does a skin Dr charge to burn each mole off? and you think a surgery will be 100? heh

If you have health insurance, it's just the cost of the co-pay.

You must be immune to pain if you were able to do that. When the nurse was packing it it was the worst pain of my life. No way you dug inside with tweezers.

no way you know what i did or didnt do with out being there, and yes i like pain and the shit already hurt so bad for 6 months so i was ready to finish it. Ya IF you have health insurance IT MIGHT BE JUST A CO-PAY. dont pretend to know everyone's insurance plan too because i know its not just a co pay for everyone with insurance.

I had a cyst removed 10 years ago. It cost 2000. I had one removed on my finger over a year ago that cost 4000 the same amount it cost to deliver my child. It is extremely expensive and the last one left my finger deformed and I never regained feeling in it.
