Already have my books and started back to school but I checked these links out anyways. Turns out the prices I paid on bn.com with my membership discount were still cheaper than any of these.

What does your membership discount give you? From what I can tell, it costs $25 to sign up (could easily be worth it if you buy a lot of books, of course). What I'm more curious about is there are only two members savings that I could find:
"Save an extra 5% on already discounted prices* at Barnes & Noble.com" and "Save an extra 10% on virtually every item at every Barnes & Noble bookstore"

Thanks,

thanks for all the links. i've been using addall all this time, but it's nice to have extra resources when searching for books.

Don't forget about....

http://half.ebay.com/browse/browse.cfm?tag=tb_books

Sometimes they have really good deals... It just amazes me to see IDIOTS, College kids with a stack of books and pay 5-600 bucks for them... When they could just buy them online and 3-400 bucks. I really think most of kids that do that iether A) are just rich or B) just got approved for a on campus visa card. Easy come Easy go!

Buy used books from half.com (the ones posted by people). I got a "$124" book for $6 in like-new condition. This was a while ago, but I assume you can still do it on the site...

Yeah, you still can, but that's a heck of a deal you got =P My best is something like $100 book for about $20 (on Amazon.com's Marketplace)... hehe. I also sell books there and give pretty good prices, since I just wanna get rid of the books more than anything else.

You bring the text to class? My profs just get up and lecture for an hour then expect you to go home and do the reading for the next class, only thing I bring to class is my laptop, thanks for the heads up OP, university book store wanted ~$700 for all my books this semester, thank fully the used book store was wayyyy cheaper, got out for $315 there

I have a feeling that they still don't have digitalized versions of a lot of books because a lot of people would not go for it; three main reasons I can think of: 1) I'd rather read from a regular book than from a computer screen; 2) Although a lot of people have laptops now, a lot of people still do not; and 3) Many college students still do not order from online companies (sure, a lot of college students use computers, but many college students do not do more than just surfing Web sites, gaming, chatting, e-mailing, and such.

I know what you are saying, but there are situations where you are stuck. I have 4 classes this upcoming fall. One course only offeres the "text" through CopEz (like kinko's, for campus), and one course uses a text written by the prof., only available on campus. So i guess for those two courses, this College kid is C) not given a choice.

I believe the main reason they do not offer digital versions of books is because it would take money from the publisher via sharing. Imagine a typical 30 person class. 30 people buy textbook @ 100= $3000.00 where if it were digital 1 person would buy it at even 100 then share with everyone else. Because we all know that it is virtually impossible to prevent sharing copyrighted materials.

Buy.com is competitive for new texts. There's a $10 off $75 and other coupons, some expiring today. Get on it!

well....selling them online is going to get you more money than the book store. But as the books are getting cheaper and cheaper...your not gonna make more on selling them online. Best bet would be to post fliers around campus and offer trades or just post a price.

Check your school's bulletins to see if there is a student service. My school has one and people get alot more $$$ then reselling it back to the school bookstore.
