there's not really much under £50 worth anything.
If your dad has a decent smart phone (not the super cheapy ones that are similar to basic phones), it's pretty much guaranteed that his phone will take equivalent or better pictures...

Maybe if you look around for used stuff? You might be able to pick up an older DSLR or point and shoot on ebay/craigslist.
