My GF wants a digital camera and I've been looking at the Canon SD110. Amazon has it for $149 shipped free. Can anyone who has one comment on its image quality and ease of use for a complete newb to digital cameras? I'm sure I'd know how to use it to its potential, but is it foolproof enough for her? 😀

I've got a SD100 that I bought for my wife. She loves it. Slim. All metal. Takes great pictures. Easy to use.

I don't think you can go wrong there...

i researched the sd110 for my gf two months ago and we got it from amazon for $160. it's better than my s230 (onboard speaker, sd memory, longer video capture), plus the silver color is rather sexy. hers had a dead pixel on the lcd, but amazon shipped another without question.

edit: oops, saw that you already bought it. so check for dead pixels!

LOL you guys. Did you read the thread? I already bought it and received it 😀

She just called me from work...she's already broken it. Luckily, it was in the case I bought her, but she was at work and dropped it from the counter onto the floor and it broke the retaining clip for the battery. So now whenever you open the door to access the battery or the SD card, the battery flies out. It still works, but she's gotta be extra careful now.

BAH!

lol. my gf has the same camera, which i picked out for her, and luckily she's very careful with her stuff, cameras included.

why don't you RMA to canon, it's under 1 year old.

I'm looking into it right now. Trying to find out what their repair/replacement policy is.

I don't think you understand the concept of an RMA.
RMA's are used when items arrive DOA or when it breaks due to a manufacturer defect, not customer negligence.
That would be insurance, not RMA/warranty.

That's what you get for letting a woman use it! 😛

And there were people in here telling me to shell out 2x the money for a better camera...sheesh. That would have been "fun"
