A60 for $85 @ Outpost

Edit: Damn, you said no A series... still one helluva deal though.

I was gonna say the same thing. I just bought one a few days ago for my little sister.

The SD110 is alright IMO - my cousin has it and I'm not overly impressed with it. (Use a A80) I don't see the A80 as that bulky anyway - fits into my front or back pocket. With a little bulge, but I'm used to having a bulge in my pants anyway. 😉

I've had an A70 and an A95. To me their bulky units (only ever so slightly smaller it seems than my Sony DSC-V3). If she put one the Axx cameras in her purses, she'd have no more room left...ya know after the wallet, keys, pads, etc. 😉

Nice camera you got there (the DSC-V3). I have the same one, too. How much did you get it for? I got it for 492.00 after tax at DELL and I always have a feeling I'm being ripped off. 🙁
The SD110 should be perfect for a sub $150 camera

go with SD200. I really dislike the thickness of SD110 and the 2x optical zoom. sd200 is so much thinner and with 3x zoom.

You feel ripped off? I paid $590 for it when it first came out 🙁😉

Yeah, I think you're right. For $150, you can't go wrong (the SD200 is $240). It doesn't make any sense to spend any more money for a few 10ths of an inch here or there. I mean, she's not a professional photographer. She just wants a small, camera to take quick pictures with at work and when she's out.

I'll go ahead and order it. Her birthday is on the 7th of next month so I'll have a nice surprise for her 😀

sweet..

in case people are wondering, digic I on the s500 sucks compared to a digic II at the same megapixel.. there are known distortion on the s500.. it's pushing the limit of the ccd..

i hope the sd500 doesn't have the same thing.. its 7 fricken megapixels..

If you want it now, Canon SD300. If you can wait a bit, get the SD400 or SD500 (different style). They'll come out at the end of the month. Chicks dig compact digicams w/ style.

How much bigger is the SD 110 than other Canon Elph models??

SD110 = 3.4 x 2.2 x 0.9
SD200 = 3.38 x 2.10 x 0.83
SD300 = 3.39 x 2.09 x 0.82

Not much difference if you ask me.

The SD110 wouldn't be too bad. I had the old S100, and the size was great. The newer ones with a little higher MP would be great. A friend of mine just got the SD300 and it's really nice. 1/2 the thickness of the 110 and a bigger LCD. I think it's about $300, if you want to go that high.

It's definitely noticeable. Trust me. I've had all kinds of Canon Elphs.

And smaller size isn't the only advantage to get an SD200.
Huge 2" LCD compared to 1.5" LCD on SD110
3X zoom vs. 2X zoom (optical)
Video mode is vastly improved - fast 60 fps for a minute or unlimited 640x480 @ 30 fps
Faster processor for shot-to-shot and startup times.

Well worth the extra $75... I priced it at $225 at Dell a few months back, but I opted for the SD300 for $315.

I love these cameras.... I have an s200 and expect my sd110 any day now. The image quality is excellent, but as stated earlier...digital zoom isn't all that great. However....I usually turn digital zoom off on the camera and only use the optical. If I need to tweak something, I can do digital zoom after I take the picture with the highest-res and photochop later.

I have to pay tax through Dell and they have it for $299 now anyway. Cheapest anywhere else is $233 from some vendor off Pricegrabber.

Anyway, went ahead and bought the SD110. I'm sure she'll love it 😀 Besides, I just spent an a$$load of money on her for Valentines anyway.

Well I guess since it's a gift, she can't complain.
The SD110 is a fine camera. Probably the best in its class a year ago, but not anymore.

If it were for myself, I'd be sure to not make a purchase I'd regret.
That's why I opted for the extra megapixel in the SD300.

The difference is, you bought the camera for yourself. You know what you're doing. She doesn't know sh!t about digital cameras besides press the little shiny "On" button and then hit the little shiny round button to make it take a picture. You think I'm gonna pay extra money for a newb camera user? Hell no 😀

If it were for me, sure b/c I can appreciate the difference...her, she wouldn't know the difference anyway

how does the SD110 compare in size to the old S230? I have the S230 right now.. but i'm looking to upgrade. Please let me know. Thanks, john

I know that I chose the free shipping, but I figured they would have shipped it by now. Amazon is normally faster than this. It hasn't even entered the "Preparing items for shipment" phase

SD110 or S230...both are great. The SD110 is a bit smaller than the S230.

I'm not sure about the SD110, but the S230 has a nice metal body and can take the abuse of being thrown in and out of a bag.
