He was a murderer. He was not a hero.
Why do people revere him? Everything that I've seen points to the fact that he was a piece of garbage.

Why would you ask Americans? They hate him.

In South America, Europe, Africa and Asia he is a hero.

No one cares.

Apparently the OP does.

I just dont get it.

He gave hope to oppressed people around the world. What more is there to get? Many who live in wealth based upon others suffering will deride his life but what does that matter?

He wanted those people to hate him.

Do these oppressed people think that Castro is a hero too?

No, mainly because Castro never thought of any great global revolution.

Che went all over the world. He went to other places in South America, Europe, and Africa. He even spoke in the UN and met with Nehru in India. He is a global figure because many liked him. Castro was selfish and just wanted Cuba for himself. A lot people say he wanted to kill Che as well.

Much of what keeps many South and Central American countries poor is the imperialist policies of a certain Capitalist North American country.

Would you like to explain, in detail?

no sorry, its cowardly governments and their people choosing to protect their markets with socialism. and you know very well how that does not work, it just keeps the weak limping along and the strong industries down making everyone suffer. i see japan and south korea doing pretty f*cking well considering our far more direct "imperialist" policies there lol. so dont kid yourself. heck, just look all over asia.

his mythic myrtred hero status was the creation of socialists for propaganda purposes.

Because it's trendy to do so. Same as the "free Mumia" phenomenon.

Mumia should have fried 20 years ago. It is a disgrace to the late Officer Faulkner and his family that that dirtbag is still alive.

a terrorist is another's hero.

George Washington was a terrorist, too.

How so? A terrorist attacks innocent people to achive a politcal objective. If someone attacks only military, then I'd call them fighters, or militants.
