I think women do this more then men. Normally in the mens room, there is all quiet, very little talking. We do our business, wash up and then leave.

Our company just hired a new fellow named 'Marvin'. With a name like Marvin, he could be gay. But, he started to talk to me in the restroom about business. I made my answers short and quickly washed up and started to leave. On the way out, he said: "Nice seeing you." What the hell does that mean? Should I assume he is gay or just being pleasant?

actually you kinda got used to it after awhile. by our sophomore year we were tormenting the incoming freshmen.

it's basically a room with 8 shower heads...so when there was a single freshman in there, two of us would go in, one on either side. then we'd start a running commentary while we showered, critiquing the guy in between.

or if the shower was full, we'd just bring in a beach ball...

I'll tell you why.

The old guy remembers the days when guys swam together naked, when they all took showers together-naked of course. That was back in the days when schools actually had P.E. classes. Usually the teacher had to come in and herd us out of the shower because we were all laughing and talking so much we'd have missed our next class. Yeah, naked guys did talk to each other in the shower.

Also, many European men still go to the sauna and public baths together. The Japanese do it as well, and talking is definitely not verboten.
