not to be a total douche but a lot of you sound like angsty nvidia fanboys who just heard something bad about their beloved. not knowing how to deal with it you lash out like a bunch of WILD HYENAS!

Note: i may only have 1 post but i'm not charlie; sorry!

Fuuny..I thought Char-lie was an orcale to some guys, now when he comes up with blanks, I get that confirmed.

"Thou shall not speak evil of the Char-lie" seems to be what some people want...says it all dosn't it :hmm:

How about removing all the nvidia trolls from the forum for starters.

then you can remove the ATI trolls... then the video card forums fall into quick and inescapable decay.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that, everyone knows this guy is a rabid troll, but occasionally he speaks the truth.

He is an oracle. You just have to read between the lines.

Question: Did he make any negative posts in the run-up to the GTX460?
Answer: No

Inference: GTX460 will be on time, in reasonable supply, and competitive.

If he doesn't have anything to say, that's his way of saying there's nothing bad to say :p

Agreed, but most journalism is like that. When there's an earthquake, do the newspapers all have as their headline - "250 other countries don't suffer earthquake today"?

Where the heck have you been? Did you miss Char-lie's little GEM, just 3 weeks ago about GTX 460 predictions?

http://www.semiaccurate.com/2010/06/21/what-are-nvidias-gf104-gf106-and-gf108/

The same problem that affected GF100 are going to hit the GF10x parts, and Nvidia is going to end up doing the same things to make salable parts, fuse-off bad clusters while downclocking like mad. Contrary to their magical statement about 40nm yields, our checks at Computex said quite the opposite. Sources tell SemiAccurate that the only way GF100 yields broke 20% is if you include GTX465. Then again, hitting 50% or so yields with 5/16 shader clusters disabled, 80% of your intended clock rate, and nearly 100% over power budget is one thing I would not recommend putting on your resume. The Fermi architecture is still an unmanufacturable mess.

The GF104/6/8 are based on the same architecture, more or less unchanged, so they are going to be a mess as well.
Since they are smaller, around 405mm^2, 270mm^2 and 135mm^2, yields should improve proportionately, but still be way behind the competitive ATI chips. If you want a sign of how bad yields are going to be, look at the samples floating around, specifically EXPreview's great find. . . .

In any case, the same problems of vias failing and failing clusters don't seem to be fixed this time around, so expect all sorts of yield irregularities, non-fully functional 'fully functional' parts, and the other half-baked solutions many have grown to expect from Nvidia of late. . . .

Another good example of how unchanged the GF104 is can be seen by the shape of the GF104 at EXPreview. ...

The more things change at Nvidia, the more they stay the same, GF104, GF106, and GF108 are proof that the company is lost.S|A
i'd say that Char-lie's prediction about GF104 is an absolute mess

:p

I do enjoy reading semi-accurate, like I said--but you have to take it for what it is, a rumor and entertainment site. Comparing him to Glenn Beck or Hitler or whatever is silly--this is computer hardware, lol.

I'd say he is the Ken Rockwell of computer sites. Writes a lot of complete B.S., writes a few good things, but can be entertaining...and causes a ton of flame wars. Anything he writes about Nvidia you hafta take with a huge grain of salt lol. He has posted some good info though, like when he wrote that DFI was getting out of the consumer mobo space.

"Come with us to Fermi mountain, Charlie!"

I wonder if Char-lie lost his inside source...or never had one in the first palce and just posted everything negative he could conjure up and hoped to be lucky.

As with most things in life I'd say this is one of those occasions where it makes sense to "follow the money".

Who benefits, besides Charlie, from Charlie's website and articles?

Charlie is a fool. He constantly gripes about Nvidia and is right sometimes, and wrong other times. If i constantly bashed one company over and over again, I would be right sometimes and wrong sometimes as well.

He is basically a fortune teller who most people only remember when he is right, and they forget all the crap he says that doesn't come true.

I think the amazing part is the data the man did see with a mistranslation. Perfect example of reading what you want to read -- see what you want to see.
