This is sad news.

Because he's still alive the haters can continue to freely spew their hate in this thread with abandon. Come on guys, say what you really feel. A living conservative is more than fair game. There will be no repercussions.

you are the real victim.

You reported this thread didnt you? Be honest. you were looking for your safespace.txt

Like McCain, I hope he can finally find love within himself. And can be genuinely contrite for supporting murder of hundreds of thousands around the world. This was his glib response with regards to an actual war which always results in a lot of innocent suffering

--
He concluded the 2003 column with the suggestion that, if “in a year or two we are able to leave behind a stable, friendly government, we will have succeeded. If not, we will have failed. And all the geniuses will be vindicated.”
--

I hope he can finally see that all these games of who is right, who is wrong are so meaningless, when we have lost the humanity inside us. This perhaps would be the moment he would realize what really matters, when everything else is gone. I hope.

Don't worry, I'm more than happy to keep reminding people what an abject shitbag he was after he dies too.

Good grief, people. Krauthammer is far from a saint, but I don't think it's right to be vicious to him at a moment like this.

I do. My favorite comment so far was "Someone should have pushed him into a swimming pool a long time ago."

Thank you for your sense of human decency. These are the things that define us.

There is no human decency in offering condolences. Human decency is how a person actually lives their life. I don't think Mr. Krauthammer ever had much of that. Lets not reduce human decency to a meaningless shallow thing, like everything else in our culture.

I love these threads, it's always the same game. Someone dies, someone else says something mean about them, and then the pearl clutching begins!

The point, I'd say, is to claim the higher moral ground and show the compassion our political opponents don't. This doesn't mean you can't critique him, but it doesn't feel right to celebrate someone dying.

I never celebrated his death. I asked was it worth it? At the end of his life was it worth being a neocon chicken hawk? Was it worth outliving a bunch of soldiers he cheered going to their death in an illegal war based on lies he perpetuated? Thats the question I hope he asks. He wont though. Because he is simple.

I am glad he lived to see the collapse of pretense of conservatism being an intellectual movement. The victims of neoconservatism were not so lucky.

But is anyone's attitude here to him going to make his situation worse or better?
No, of course not. But it does effectively serve as a litmus test of one's empathy and compassion....attributes that I personally consider as fundamental in regard to a human being's moral judgement.

I find great irony in your post...and also see that you're completely and utterly blind to it.

I also use shitposting history here to judge everyone's character. Take you for example. My guess is that two days from now you won't remember who shitposted in this thread and who didn't, but will instead apply that character judgment to all liberals in this forum.

You're right about me not remembering who shitposted here a couple of days from now. But I will remember some of those who didn't, like Commodus and MomentsofSanity. I may disagree with them on a regular basis, but I can see that they're good people at their core.

Always thought that he, much like Lawrence Eagleburger, had a perfect name for a US conservative, especially one so opposed to the general ethos of European social democracy. I'll say that much. (What could be more all-American than an eagle burger? A kraut hammer!)

Apart from that I'll have to go with 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything'. Cancer is everyone's enemy.
