It's not significant work to use a charcoal grill. And the taste is so much better that it's not even a comparison.

The funny thing is I've seen people butcher food on a charcoal grill and cook without problems on gas. Seems to be a quickly fading art...

yeah I am leaning towards charcoal...but gas seems easier to clean...I guess you have to clean the grill no matter what.

I've got a gas grill... my in-laws were just gonna put it on the curb and let the trash man pick it up... the wheels were broken and it needed new gas jets. I took it home.

I saw an ad last night for one that is both. Research the Char-Broil brand and see if you can find it. I don't know that there would be any real advantages, though.

Yeah, you do have to monitor charcoal more because you can't control the temperature as finely, but boy does it taste better. :) I've never had a problem with charcoal, but then again I pretty much stand over the grill for the entire cooking time.

Nah, combos aren't the way to go. They will be sub-optimal for both gas and charcoal. I prefer a Weber myself.

It's really the only way to fly. Things just don't taste nearly as good on gas.

My wife invited her parents down to our new house right after we got married. I didn't have time to go to the store after work because dinner was going to be early, so I sent her to the store to buy charcoal. She came back with some cheapo generic brand. I used it, but when her father saw the charcoal sitting in the garage later that evening he wanted to know how bought it. My wife said that she did and asked why...

He slowly shook his head and sighed, "Only Kingsford, honey. You only grill on Kingsford."

Weber is God's gift to Memorial Day weekend.

I have a gas grill at home, but I think charcoal makes for a better "experience". I haven't done any scientific taste tests though ;)

Weber's are a great charcoal grill, I used one for years. Switched to gas, though. Can't beat the convenience. Season the food properly and it tastes fine.

Definitely Kingsford. Though we usually throw in some hickory chips too. Love the kettle grill.

Actually this question has been answered in taste tests.

Gas for quick cook meats like steaks
Charcol for slow cook meats like ribs

OH - and real men have both!
