Wow, something must have messed up. You should have removed and cleaned all traces of chipset drivers before hand, then installed the latest. I helped my friend go from an Athlon XP 2000+ to an A64 3000+ and all he had to do was remove all drivers (downloading all new ones for new motherboard etc before to hard drive), boot up and install the drivers. No problems whatsoever, no need to reinstall.
