guess i won't be getting a TV from Costco

Because other stores offer a better policy or lower price?

no as i said they have off brand TV's with a good price. Getting them with the old policy was way to preotect the buyer.

with the new policy (but as vic pointed out it don't change exchange's so its a moot point eh?) that makes it diffrent. i would rather buy a more expensvie name brand TV with a proven track record then a brand i don't know.

So? Doesn't Costco carry name-brands too?

yeah when i looked they were not much cheaper then any other place. not worth the $40 +hour driving time for me.

now then i can go 15 minutes and get one for maybe $100 or so more.

the off brand were far cheaper and worth teh gamble.

- Winter vacation I bought a Canon Rebel XT and returned it afterwards. I had something like 2.5 GB of sexy photos. I don't really like my Powershot G3 anymore.

- Rush event for our fraternity we bought Christmas lights from Costco and returned them

- Camping we bought propane stoves at Target and returned them. Hey, we paid for the propane at least.

Now I would honestly never buy a TV and return it. You're just whacked if you do that. Same goes for idiots and their laptop + return stuff. I'm not reformatting every 90 days just to get a free laptop.

Your not cheap at all, you're a thief.

the world would be a better place without scum like you :disgust:

kudos to costco for weeding out the scum abusers vis a vis the new return policy

Costco still extends the warranty to 2 years for TVs.

Granted, I still bought my 42" New plasma at meijer because it was $360 after rebate, but costco still has great deals. If i didn't get such a great deal on my plasma, costco would be my 2nd choice, even with the reduced policy. no garbage restocking fees a la worst buy.

so it still ahs the extended warrenty? good news. 2 years isstill makes it in th e time frame of it being worth it.

I have bought tons of stuff from Costco over the years.
Never returned anything.
And I have not found that they only carry "off brands".

Why do you differentiate between the stuff you bought and returned and people who bought TVs or laptops?

That's just flat out wrong. What makes you think that this is okay to do? I'm paying for sh!t like this with higher prices every time I shop. DIAF. :|

p.s. - with almost 7000 posts, you HAD to know that this would be flamebait on ATOT. Why would you even post that?

You now the answer to why he posted that, you told us it. I bolded the answer for you for emphasis

Well, we knew it was coming. It doesn't really effect me, as I never really returned anything after a couple weeks anyways, and that was because I didn't have time. 90 days is still a great policy. Better than 99% of other return policies.

Cheapness = 12. DIAF.

What's the difference between buying a TV and returning it used versus the Rebel XT, morally? Or wouldn't you just because the TV's too heavy for your ass to lift easily?

"You're just whacked," says the guy with no class.

Warnings have been posted since November, I even posted one of them in early December when customer service rep told me so herself.

As a Costco shareholder I'm happy they've closed this loophole but as a customer I will no longer buy the effected items unless Costco has the absolute lowest price.

I can't understand people like Naustica who are now going to change their shopping habits. I have never seen a retail store that has a return policy of more than 30 days and most of them, for these items, have a 14 day policy. Costco's is 90 days. They'll exchange your TV for two years and most other stores, after 30 days, require you to go to the manufacturer. So what exactly is your purchase place when you're STILL getting a better policy than anywhere else?
