Bolded and Italicized for great justice.

(Meaning you probably won't get your money back in your pocket, but you probably will get either an exchange or store credit.)

so, where would you buy a TV? what is the policy of the store where you will buy a TV from?

you buy a TV planning on getting a refund more than 90 days after buying it?

Also, try getting a 90day return policy out of Best Buy or Circuit City on anything listed in the exceptions.

the whole reason was buying one of the offbrand TV's they put out. with the old policy if it broke in a year we could take it back with no worries.

now i will wait and find the best deal i can on a TV with proven track record.

I don't see the problem. 90 days is plenty of time to see if a TV is busted or not.

It will only affect those who abused the policy. Those people should DIAF anyway.

Hopefully this will mean lower prices...

Exactly. And it's still the best return policy out there.

BTW, "refund" means either cash or credit back to original source of payment (i.e. credit or debit card). Not exchange or store credit.

No offense but that is what people should be doing. By buying the cheapest p.o.s. on the shelf they're sending companies the message that price matters absolutely over quality and so we get manufacturers shipping out crap at low prices and raising the prices of the actual good quality stuff.

I'm going to guess that if it does break after 90 days they'll still cover you with an exchange (same model or comparable one if there's a newer one) or maybe even credit towards another one in the amount that you paid.

Because other stores offer a better policy or lower price?

I doubt it will lead to lower prices, its probably more they had to do it to prevent raising prices. This way they can still maintain good prices and service to those who aren't just abusing their policy.

Please rate my cheapness on a scale of 1-10:

- Winter vacation I bought a Canon Rebel XT and returned it afterwards. I had something like 2.5 GB of sexy photos. I don't really like my Powershot G3 anymore.

- Rush event for our fraternity we bought Christmas lights from Costco and returned them

- Camping we bought propane stoves at Target and returned them. Hey, we paid for the propane at least.

Now I would honestly never buy a TV and return it. You're just whacked if you do that. Same goes for idiots and their laptop + return stuff. I'm not reformatting every 90 days just to get a free laptop.

If it's just for a refund, I don't really care. I'll take a store credit without hesitation, seeing as how I'd spend the money there anyways.

I didn't know that Phillips, Sharp, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Samsung, and Mitsubishi were off-brands.

no as i said they have off brand TV's with a good price. Getting them with the old policy was way to preotect the buyer.

with the new policy (but as vic pointed out it don't change exchange's so its a moot point eh?) that makes it diffrent. i would rather buy a more expensvie name brand TV with a proven track record then a brand i don't know.

costco is a great company.

there is a good interview with the CEO in the Times from a couple years back - they have a good company ethic and pay their employees very well with good benefits. analysts were saying how terrible this is (that they treat employees right) but yet the company does very well. also, the ceo only accepts a salary of like 300k or sumtin.

Why after 90 days would you want to return your TV? Either you like it or you dont. After 3 months you should know if you want to keep the thing or not.

I dont see a problem with their return policy. Try going to BB and see how far you get after 14 days.

I think that is pretty cheap and abusive of their return policies. If I was a business owner, you are one of customer I could do without.

So? Doesn't Costco carry name-brands too?
